Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students were introduced to graphing systems of linear inequalities in two variables on the coordinate plane.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the textbook, page 278 #10, 18, 24, 30 to be due on Friday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 5 test on Friday of this week.

The cumulative final for chapters 1-5 is scheduled for Tuesday 12/20/16. 

Assignments:   Students were assigned some problems from the textbook, page 278 #10, 18, 24, 30, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students were then introduced to chapter 5 and finding ratios, rates and unit rates.  Students were given class time to make corrections to their chapter 4 tests.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #28 is due on Friday in class.  Chapter 4 test corrections are due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then got into their Local Ecology Project groups and we went outside to visit our established plots to make observations and take temperatures for the month of December.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students took a quiz on the first four sections of chapter 5. 

Students can expect the chapter 5 test on Friday of this week.

The cumulative final for chapters 1-5 is scheduled for Tuesday 12/20/16. 

Assignments:   Students were assigned some work from their practice workbooks, activity 1 on page 157, activity 3 on page 158 and the vocabulary definitions on top of page 159, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then took the chapter 4 TEST.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #27 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 161 #1-12 and from the practice workbook, page 83.  Both assignments are due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then were given class time to create a notecard full of any information they deem necessary in order to have success on the chapter 1 test on Wednesday.  

Students can expect the chapter 1 test on Wednesday of this week.  

Assignments: Students should be studying for the chapter 1 test.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and began determining the number of solutions for a system of linear equations. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the text book page 257 #1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9-12, 14, 18, 26 to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued working with inequalities.  Students continued solving inequalities, and today they were given class time to begin the review process for the chapter 4 test on Tuesday in class.  

The Chapter 4 Test is scheduled for Tuesday December 13th.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #27 is due on Wednesday in class. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then read the final section of chapter on the Six Kingdoms that all organisms are grouped into.  Students defined some key vocabulary words, as well as answered some key guiding questions as we read the section aloud in class.  The section 1.4 worksheet, The Six Kingdoms, is due on Tuesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 1 test on Wednesday of this week.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued working with inequalities.  Students continued solving inequalities, and today they began solving two step inequalities.  After a review of how to solve two step equations, students were reminded of the rules for solving inequalities when multiplying or dividing by an negative number.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework problems from the textbook, pages 150 & 151 # 1, 3, 5-10, 12, 15, 18, 19, to be due on Friday in class.  

Students can expect a quiz on Friday in class on one and two step inequalities.  The Chapter 4 Test is scheduled for Tuesday December 13th.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #26 is due on Friday in class.  Students were assigned some homework problems from the textbook, pages 150 & 151 # 1, 3, 5-10, 12, 15, 18, 19, to be due on Friday in class.

Students then continued working with inequalities.  Students continued solving inequalities, and today they continued solving inequalities with multiplication and division.  Students needed a bit more practice on solving one step inequalities, so students were asked to complete a One-Step Inequalities worksheet (double-sided) and given class time to begin working on it.  The worksheet will be due on Thursday in class. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #26 is due on Friday in class.  Students were assigned the One-Step Inequalities worksheet to be due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then broken into groups of two and asked to identify flavors of Jelly Belly jelly beans from a taxonomic key provided to them in class.   We will pick up on this activity on Thursday in class.

Students then continued working with inequalities.  Students continued solving inequalities, and today they continued solving inequalities with multiplication and division.  After some brief teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 143/144 # 1-3; 11-23 odds and 27-35 odds, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued working with and developing taxonomic keys for sets of given organisms.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, students were asked to develop a taxonomic key for 10 organisms.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 4.  Students were continuing to work with piecewise functions and graphs, before they were given the remaining time in class to continue reviewing for the chapter 4 test on Tuesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued working with inequalities.  Students continued solving inequalities, and today they were introduced to solving inequalities with multiplication and division.  After some brief teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned to complete the explorations or activities in their practice workbooks, pages 75-77, to be due on Tuesday in class.

They then were classifying other shoes within the classroom based on the taxonomic key they developed for their own shoes.

Assignments: If students did not finish the worksheet in the class time provided, it is due on Tuesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of taking the slope of a line and the y intercept and writing an equation in slope intercept form, students continued working with point slope form.  Students were given the point slope formula and we practiced using a given point and the slope of a line to end up with an equation in slope intercept form.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 185 # 1, 8-14, 15, 17, 21, 25, 27, to be due on Friday in class.

Student were then introduced to solving two step equations.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed a Solving Two Step Equations worksheet and asked to complete the work for Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of taking the slope of a line and the y intercept and writing an equation in slope intercept form, students began working with point slope form.  Students were given some time in class to work through some explorations regarding how to convert the slope formula into point slope form. Students were struggling with the concept, which led to a deeper class discussion of how that process might happen.  Students were asked to complete a description of how to write an equation when given the slope and a point on that line (or the y intercept).  

Assignments:   Students were asked to complete a writing prompt, to be handed in on Thursday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.
