Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 4.  Students were then introduced to interpolation and extrapolation of data, as well correlation and causation.  Students were then working with writing and graphing the terms of arithmetic sequences.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 207 #21-24 and pages 214-215 #1, 2, 3-25 odds, 16, 26, 38 to be due Thursday in class.

Assignments:   Students were assigned some problems out of the textbook, page 207 #21-24 and pages 214-215 #1, 2, 3-25 odds, 16, 26, 38 to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued working with inequalities.  After some brief teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were given class time to continue working with inequalities by completing the section 4.1 Practice A worksheet, which will be due on Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #24 is due on Friday in class.  The section 4.1 Practice A worksheet is due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then reading to learn about the Origins of Life from the textbook.  We read chapter one section two, The Origins of Life, from the text book together, and students were answering some guiding questions as we read.  The section 1.2 worksheet will be due on Thursday in class.  

Assignments: The section 1.2 worksheet will be due on Thursday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of scatter plots and lines of best fit, students were given a lesson about using residuals to determine how well lines of fit model data sets.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems out of the textbook, page 206 #1, 2, 5-8, and 10, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued working with inequalities.  After some brief teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned some homework from their practice workbooks, page 70, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then got into their Local Ecology Groups and we went outside to our established plots and students completed a data sheet as a group.  

Assignments: If students did not finish the worksheet in the class time provided, it is due on Wednesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of graphing a line and finding the x - intercept and writing an equation in point slope format, students were given a lesson on interpreting scatter plots and lines of best fit.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems out of the textbook, pages 199-200 #1, 2, 3-15 odds, and 22, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  We then transitioned back into reading to learn about "What is Life?"  We reviewed the six basic characteristics all living things share in common, before learning about what all living things need to survive.  After we finished reading section 1.1, students were given class time to complete the section 1.1 What is Life? worksheet.  

Assignments: If students did not finish the worksheet in the class time provided, it is due on Tuesday in class.

We will be having an open house on Wednesday November 23, from 1:30 - 2:30 where students will be sharing their knowledge they acquired while researching their assigned country.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of taking the slope of a line and the y intercept and writing an equation in slope intercept form, students continued working with point slope form.  Students were given the point slope formula and we practiced using a given point and the slope of a line to end up with an equation in slope intercept form.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 185 # 1, 8-14, 15, 17, 21, 25, 27, to be due on Friday in class.

Student were then introduced to solving two step equations.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed a Solving Two Step Equations worksheet and asked to complete the work for Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of taking the slope of a line and the y intercept and writing an equation in slope intercept form, students began working with point slope form.  Students were given some time in class to work through some explorations regarding how to convert the slope formula into point slope form. Students were struggling with the concept, which led to a deeper class discussion of how that process might happen.  Students were asked to complete a description of how to write an equation when given the slope and a point on that line (or the y intercept).  

Assignments:   Students were asked to complete a writing prompt, to be handed in on Thursday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued solving equations using inverse operations.  Today students reviewed how to solve equations involving addition and subtraction.  Student then continued solving equations using multiplication and division (and addition and subtraction).  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some work from the text book, page 106 #3-27, to be due Thursday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 4.  After some quick review of identifying whether a function is linear or nonlinear and how you would know, and graphing some linear equations, students were provided some teacher led instruction of how to produce the equation of a given line on a graph, students were given class time to work on the chapter 4 section 1 Extra Practice in their workbooks.  Workbook pages 99 & 100 will be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:   Students were assigned workbook page 95 as well as a linear equations worksheet both of which will be due on Monday November 14th.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Students then continued solving equations using inverse operations.  Today students were solving equations involving addition and subtraction.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were given class time to complete a double sided worksheet solving equations using addition and subtraction.  

Assignments:  The double sided solving equations worksheet will be due on Monday November 14th.  

Science:  Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students completed a worksheet where they were given the creative freedom to design an experiment regardless of resources available.  Students are learning about the scientific method, and they designed an experiment about a subject they are most interested in and to pretend that there are no limitations regarding resources.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 3.  Students continued reviewing transformations within the coordinate plane.  Students were learning how to work with transformations of graphs of absolute value functions.  There was lots of teacher led instruction and note-taking by students as Mr. Olsen was helping students key in on the clues that guide students when working with translations, reflections and stretches and shrinks of absolute value functions.  Students were assigned some practice problems from the textbook page 160 # 9,11,13,23,25,27,31 to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  Students were then reviewing and working with Greatest Common Factors.  Students continued practicing listing factors and using factor trees in order to find the GCF of given integers.  Students reviewed how to factor algebraic expressions, before being introduced to solving equations using addition. Students were assigned some problems from the text book page 93 #1-13, to be due on Friday in class.
