***Taku Students will begin AMP testing on Tuesday morning.  The Math portion will be given on Wednesday morning, and 8th graders will be taking the science AMP test on Thursday morning.***

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced to chapter 5 and solving system of linear equations.  We spent most of class time understanding how to use a table to find a break even point for two given equations, as well as how to find the same break even point by graphing the given equations.  After some teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned three problems out of their text books, on page 204 #1-3, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #46 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to complete problems #1-3 on page 204 of the math textbook for class on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 6 and today we began working with developing equations from a given scenario.  Students continued practicing using mapping diagrams in order to develop an equation based on the work they do to complete the mapping diagram.  Students were asked to complete the activities for section 6.2 in the workbook, pages 125-127 for class on Wednesday.    

Assignments:  Review HW #46 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 125-127 are due Wednesday in class. 
  
Science:  No science classes were held today.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced to chapter 5 and solving system of linear equations.  We spent most of class time reviewing how to write a given slope and a point a line crosses through, into point slope form and ultimately into slope intercept form.  

Assignments:  Review HW #46 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to graph three separate equations for class on Tuesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 6 and working with and identifying patterns in relations and functions and mapping diagrams.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned workbook page 124, to be due Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period reading to learn about the forces of  friction and gravity.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then took the chapter 4 test. Students will be offered about 15 minutes of class time on Friday to complete their test, if they did not finish in the time provided today.

Assignments:  Review HW #45 is due Friday in class.  Workbook pages 99 & 100 (the Chapter 5 Fair Game Review activity) is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students completed their chapter 5 test.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4.  Next, students were handed a chapter review activity packet and given the remaining time in class to begin practicing their skills in preparation for the chapter 4 test on Thursday.

Students can expect the Chapter 4 test on Thursday of this week.

Assignments:  Review HW #45 is due Friday in class.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent the class period taking the chapter 5 test.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period reading to learn about Newton's Second Law of Motion.  Students learned that Force = Mass x Acceleration, and we talked about direct proportionality and inverse proportionality in context to increasing the force leads to increased acceleration, and that an increase in mass leads to a decrease in acceleration.  Students also completed the section 2.2 worksheet in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4.  Next, students jumped into section seven of chapter 4, and were learning about the point slope formula.  Students were introduced to the formula by Mr. Olsen, and then we practiced using the formula and plugging given information into the formula.  Once students felt confident in plugging values into the point slope formula, we began practicing solving the point slope formula for y, or rearranging the point slope formula into slope intercept form in order to graph the line.  After a bit of focused practice in class, students were assigned page 98 of the workbook, to be due Wednesday in class.

Students can expect the Chapter 4 test on Thursday of this week.

Assignments:  Review HW #44 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook page 98 is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent the class period participating in a chapter 5 review activity.  The chapter 5 test is scheduled for Wednesday of this week.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period completing the worksheet for section 2.1 on the Nature of Force.  Next, students were asked to apply their knowledge of Newton's First Law of motion in a lab setting.  Students completed several activities, using different materials, and answered several questions based on Newton's First Law of Motion.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4.  Next, students celebrated Pi day (3.14) by reviewing and/or learning about the relationship between the circumference and diameter of any circle or round object.  Students were asked to measure several round objects and calculate the circumference, diameter, and radius of the objects and then crunched some numbers to see if they measured the circumference and diameter accurately in order to find the value of the relationship between the two.  We also ate PIE!  

Assignments:  Review HW #44 is due Wednesday in class. 

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students celebrated Pi day (3.14) by reviewing and/or learning about the relationship between the circumference and diameter of any circle or round object.  Students were asked to measure several round objects and calculate the circumference, diameter, and radius of the objects and then crunched some numbers to see if they measured the circumference and diameter accurately in order to find the value of the relationship between the two.  We also ate PIE! 

Assignments:  Review HW #44 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to complete a worksheet with several area and circumference problems of different circles for class on Tuesday.
  
Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period reading to learn about Newton's first law of motion, otherwise known as the law of inertia.  Students defined several key vocabulary words, before we read chapter 2 section 1 together in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4.  Next, students graded their homework from section 4.5 before we jumped into section 6 on developing linear equations from a given line on a graph. Students reviewed how to find the slope of a given line, and how to find the y intercept in order to develop an equation for that line.  Students were given most of the class period to work through the activities for section 4.6 in the workbook before being assigned page 94 of the practice workbook.  Workbook page 94 is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent todays class period reviewing how to solve a system of equations has one solution, many solutions or no solution.  After a bit of teacher instruction and examples of how to a system of equations via graphing, students were asked to complete the section 5.4 Extension worksheet for class on Friday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period reading to learn about acceleration and how to calculate it.  After reading the section together and practicing several example acceleration problems, students completed the section 1.3 worksheet in class before we graded it together in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4.  Next, students participated in a lesson designed to help them understand how to work with equations written in standard form. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the worksheet associated with section 4.5 on standard form.  Workbook page 90 is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent todays class period reviewing how to solve systems of equations through graphing and creating/using a table to find x, y coordinates in order to find the point of intersection or the solution for the system of equations.  Next, students continued learning how to solve systems of equations via elimination. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were given class time to finalize the workbook page 112 in class.  When students finished page 112, they were handed the section 5.3 Practice B worksheet, that is due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #42 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to complete the section 5.3 Practice B worksheet for class on Wednesday.
  
Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period participating in another Speed Challenge activity.  We then transitioned back into the text book and completed the reading for Describing and Measuring Motion.  Students learned how to define velocity and practiced working with motion graphs.  Student were then given the section 1.1 worksheet and given about 12 minutes of class time to complete the work.    

Assignments:  The section 1.1 worksheet on Describing and Measuring Motion will be due on Wednesday if they did not finish it in the class time provided.

Students spent todays class period reviewing how to find the slope and the x and y intercepts of a given linear equation.  Next, students participated in a lesson designed to help them understand how to work with equations written in standard form. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems out of the text book, page 174 # 1,2,3,4.  These problems will be due on Tuesday in class.

After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems out of the text book, page 170-171 # 8, 11, 13, 19, and 22.  These problems will be due on Friday in class.

Students spent todays class period reviewing and practicing how to find the slope of a given graph of a line, as well as how to create tables of x,y values in order to plot the points and graph a linear equation.  Next, students reviewed how to read an equation in slope intercept form, and continued graphing lines on the coordinate plane. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned page 86 of the practice workbook for class on Thursday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent todays class period reviewing how to solve systems of equations through graphing and creating/using a table to find x, y coordinates in order to find the point of intersection or the solution for the system of equations.  Next, students graded their homework from Tuesday evening, before we all felt students needed more practice solving systems of equations via the substitution method.  Thus, students were assigned problems from the text book, pages 212-213 #13,15,16,17 & 18-20, 23.  These problems will be due Thursday in class.
