8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period reviewing and practicing how to create tables of x,y values in order to plot the points and graph a linear equation.  The stained glass equations worksheet will be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #40 is due Wednesday in class. The stained glass equations worksheet will be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent todays class period reviewing how to solve systems of equations through graphing and creating/using a table to find x, y coordinates in order to find the point of intersection or the solution for the system of equations.  Students worked together to put together a system of equations to solve a word problem, before we transitioned into section 5.2 and using substitution to solve systems of equations.  The section 5.2 activities from the workbook (pages 105-107) are due Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #40 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to complete the activities for section 5.2 out of the workbook (pages 105-107) for class on Tuesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period wrapping up the chemistry unit by grading the tests and watching a Bill Nye the science guy Chemical Reactions film.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period learning how to identify and graph proportional relationships.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned workbook page 82 for homework, to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #38 is due Wednesday in class.  Page 82 of the practice workbook (section 4.3) is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent todays class period learning about how to solve systems of equations through graphing and creating/using a table to find x, y coordinates in order to find the point of intersection for the system of equations.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were asked to complete problems #4,6,7,9 from page 206 of the textbook, to be due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period preparing for the chemistry unit test on Wednesday.  All students will be allowed to use a 3" x 5" note card (front and back) as a study guide on the test.  Students will be turning in their notecard with the test.  

Assignments:  Students can be reviewing their chemistry notes, as we are having the Chemistry Unit Test on Wednesday/Thursday of this week in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period reviewing how to find the slope of a given line on the coordinate plane.  Students were then led into working with the direct variation equation.  Students were assigned the workbook activities associated with section 4.3 in the practice workbook, to be due Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #38 is due Wednesday in class.  Pages 79-81 of the practice workbook (section 4.3 activities) are due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Class was then interrupted by an ALICE drill.  When the drill was over, students got back to completing the Do Now.  Students were asked to graph six different linear equations for class on Tuesday. 

Assignments:  Review HW #38 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were asked to graph six different linear equations for class on Tuesday. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then completed the Chemical Bonding quiz.  We then graded the quiz.  Students were informed that the Chemistry Unit test is scheduled for Wednesday/Thursday of this week.  Tuesday will be a review day in class in order for students to prepare themselves for the chemistry unit test.

Assignments:  Students can be reviewing their chemistry notes, as we are having the Chemistry Unit Test on Wednesday/Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period reviewing how to find the slope of a given line on the coordinate plane.  Students were then introduced to the rules for determining if two lines are parallel or perpendicular.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 77 & 78 of the practice workbook as homework, to be due Friday in class.

Assignments:  Pages 77 & 78 of the practice workbook are due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period completing the chapter 4 test.  

Assignments:  Students were asked to complete workbook pages 99 & 100, the Chapter 5 Fair Game Review, for class on Friday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed ionic and covalent bonds.  Next, students were over the rules for naming compounds created during the bonding process.  Students then completed the Bonding with a Classmate activity.  Students were assigned a different element with an oxidation number, and were asked to move around the commons area in order to find another classmate with the proper element classification and oxidation number in order to form either a ionic or covalent bond.

Assignments:  Students can be reviewing their bonding notes, as we are having a Chemical Bonding quiz on Friday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period learning about slope and how to calculate it.  Students continued working with the slope formula, including how to graph both horizontal and vertical lines.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 76 of the practice workbook as homework, to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period taking the chapter 4 test.  

Assignments:  Review HW #37 is due on Thursday in class.  Students were handed a section 4.7 extension worksheet as homework to be due Thursday in class. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed ionic and covalent bonds.  Next, students were over the rules for naming compounds created during the bonding process.  Students then participated in a Bonding with a Classmate activity.  Students were assigned an element with an oxidation number, and were asked to move around the commons area in order to find another classmate with the proper element classification and oxidation number in order to form either a ionic or covalent bond.

Assignments:  Students can be reviewing their chemistry notes, as the chemistry unit test is upcoming.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period learning about slope and how to calculate it.  Students were introduced to the idea of slope being Rise/Run and practicing how to find the slope of a given line by choosing two points on that line and calculating the rise over the run.  By the end of class, students were introduced to the slope formula, which is the change in y over the change in x.  After some teacher led instruction, and several example problems, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 153 # 1-5; 8; 10 to be due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #37 is due on Thursday in class.  Problems from the text book, page 153 # 1-5; 8; 10 are due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period reviewing for the chapter 4 test.  

Assignments:  Review HW #37 is due on Thursday in class.  The chapter 4 test is scheduled for Wednesday.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed how to find oxidation numbers for the elements, before we began talking about covalent bonds between two non-metals. After some teacher led instruction and two or three examples we did together, students were asked to complete the Covalent Bonds worksheet, modeling three more covalent bonds for class on Wednesday.

Assignments:  Students should be coming into class on Wednesday with six covalent bonds modeled on the Covalent bonds worksheet.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into chapter 4.  We spent todays class period being introduced to linear equations.  Students were introduced to slope intercept form, y = mx + b, and how to find ordered pairs or x/y coordinates in order to graph the line on the coordinate plane.

Assignments:  Review HW #36 is due on Friday in class.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about how to write equations from a given line on a graph. Students spent today's class period graphing linear equations and forming equations from a given line on a graph.  Students were then asked to complete the activities for section 7 of chapter 4.  Workbook pages 95-97 are due Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #35 is due on Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 95-97 are due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed how to find oxidation numbers for the elements, before we began talking about ionic bonds between metals and non-metals. After some teacher led instruction and two or three examples we did together, students were asked to complete the Ionic Bonds worksheet, modeling three more ionic bonds for class on Friday.

Assignments:  Students should be coming into class on Friday with six ionic bonds modeled on the Ionic bonds worksheet.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about how to write equations from a given line on a graph.  After we graded the homework from Tuesday evening, students felt they needed more practice writing equations from a line on a graph, so students were assigned problems from the textbook, pages 182-183 # 1-4; 6-10 evens; 13-15 and 17 to be due in class on Thursday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given introduced to oxidation numbers and how to find them for a given element.  After some teacher led instruction, students completed a table of several elements in order to calculate the oxidation number based on an element's location on the periodic table.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Students todays class period reviewing for the chapter 3 test. The chapter 3 test is on Tuesday (Tomorrow!).  

Assignments:  Review HW #35 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students are taking the chapter 3 test on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope and graphing linear equations. Students were presented with a lesson on how to convert standard form equations into slope intercept form and graph the line.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed the section 4.5 Practice A worksheet and given the remaining 15 minutes of class time to get started on the homework.  

Assignments:  Review HW #35 is due on Wednesday in class.  The section 4.5 Practice A worksheet is due Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed how to make Bohr diagrams and Lewis structures for any given element, before being introduced to the Periodic Table Basics poster project.  Students will have until the middle of class on Tuesday to complete this poster that will display the atomic basics of elements #1-18 including drawings of a Bohr diagram and a Lewis structure for each of the elements assigned.  

Assignments:  Students should be coming into class on Tuesday with the element cards done for all 18 assigned elements.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Students continued learning about and working with similar triangles.  Students were introduced to two methods of determining whether two triangles are similar, by using angle measures and by using side lengths and proportions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 66 of the the practice workbook, to be due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope and graphing linear equations. Students were introduced to standard form, and how to convert standard form into slope intercept form by solving for y.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned four problems from the text book on page 176 # 1-4, to be due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students continued learning about valance electrons and they were introduced to Lewis Structures, a method of displaying the valance electrons a given element has.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Students then transitioned back into section four of chapter 3. Students were given class time to work on the section 3.4 activities in their practice workbooks, where they are working to understand how similar triangles can be used to find missing measurements in a given scenario.     

Assignments:  Review HW #34 is due on Friday in class.  The section 3.4 activities from the workbook are due Thursday in class.  Students can be completing page 66 from the workbook as well.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope and graphing linear equations. Students reviewed last nights homework as a group, before they were given class time to begin working on the activities for section 4.5 in the practice workbook.  Pages 87, 88, 89 are due Thursday in class. 

Assignments:  Review HW #34 is due on Friday in class.  Workbook pages 87-89 are due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students spent the class period learning about how to read the periodic table in order to understand the bonding process.  Students were filling out a worksheet on Atomic Basics in class, and we will continue working with this topic on Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Some students who didn't complete the 8 Perfect Shapes activity by the due date of the beginning of class today, were given time in class to continue working on them.  The students who did complete the Perfect Shapes activity moved forward in chapter 3 and began working on the activities in section four related to similar triangles.    

Assignments:  Review HW #33 is due on Wednesday in class.  The section 3.4 activities from the workbook are due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope and graphing linear equations. Students are still working towards being able to graph and interpret what a linear equation means, both in words and graphically.  Thus, students were assigned several problems from the text book, pages 170-171 #1-3; 8-16 evens; and 18-26 all.  These problems from the book will be due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to complete a blank periodic table by following a series of instructions in order to differentiate between all of the periods and groups on the table.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Students were given class time to continue working on the 8 Perfect Shapes activity.  Once students have calculated the interior angle measures of the different shaped polygons, students then picked 8 and are responsible for creating perfect shapes using a ruler and a protractor.   

Assignments:  Review HW #33 is due on Wednesday in class.  The 8 Perfect Shapes on notecards are due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  Today students participated in a lesson on how to describe and interpret the slope intercept equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 86 from their practice workbooks.   

Assignments:  Review HW #33 is due on Wednesday in class.  Workbook page 86 is due Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students placed their completed Element advertisement on the wall in the hallway.  Students were also given class time to complete a self evaluation on the Selling the Element project.  Once students completed their self evaluation, they were handed the direction sheet for completing a Blank Periodic Table that they will complete with the class class time given today and on Tuesday.  

Assignments:  Students can be working on their Blank Periodic Table that will be due on Wednesday at the beginning of class.
