Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students continued with chapter 8 and quadratic functions.  Students   We then jumped back into section 8.3 on functions in the form of f(x) = x² + bx + c.  Students spent class time familiarizing themselves with finding the axis of symmetry and the vertex of a given function.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 436 # 3-6, 7, 9, 11, 12.  These problems will be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students were reviewing their fraction, decimal and percent equivalents in class.  Students participated in a review game in class to help them with their memorization.  Students will be taking a quiz on these equivalents on Friday in class.

Assignments:   Review HW #44 is due Friday in class.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into their Local Ecology Groups, and we went outside to our established plots to collect our monthly data.  

Assignments: Students can be continuing to work on the rough drafts of their Mitosis Flipbooks.  The rough drafts will be due on Friday at the end of class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students continued with chapter 8 and quadratic functions.  Students reviewed what the parent function, f(x) = x², looks like on the coordinate plane, before reviewing the different translations, in the form of g(x) = x² + c.  We then jumped into section 8.3 on graphing functions in the form of f(x) = x² + bx + c.  Students were given class time to begin working on the activities in the practice workbook, pages 255-256.  We came back together near the end of class to discuss the meaning of how to find the x and y intercepts.  Students can be completing the workbook activities for class on Thursday.

Assignments:  Students can be completing the workbook activities for section 8.3 for class on Thursday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students were reviewed the percent formula, a = p * w.  Students then began finding percents of increases and/or decreases.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, both together and individually, students were asked to complete workbook page 132 for class on Thursday.  

Assignments:   Review HW #44 is due Friday in class.   Students were assigned workbook page 132 for class on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued to learn about the cell cycle.  Students were introduced to our next activity, which will have students creating a Mitosis Flipbook.  Students will be creating several images which will eventually be cut out and put together into a mini book, that when flipped through will illustrate the cell cycle.  

Assignments: Students can be continuing to work on the rough drafts of their Mitosis Flipbooks.  The rough drafts will be due on Friday at the end of class.

Next, students were reviewed the percent formula, a = p * w.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, both together and individually, students were asked to complete workbook page 128 for class on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then continued to learn about the cell cycle.  We went through an internet interactive activity, where each phase of the cell cycle was detailed and described with images both hand drawn and actual images of both animal and plant cells from under a microscope.  Students then given class time to complete and section 2.3 worksheet on Cell Division.  

Assignments: The section 2.3 worksheet on Cell Division is due on Wednesday in class if students did not complete it during the class time provided.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 8 and quadratic functions.  Students were walked through what the parent function, f(x) = x², looks like on the coordinate plane, before being introduced to the different transformations that may alter what that parent function may look like when graphed.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned workbook pages 248-249 #1-10, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students were introduced to a list of 16 commonly used fraction, decimal, and percent equivalents that all students will be expected to memorize over the course of this week.  Students should have their worksheet and flashcards completed for each set of the F, D & P equivalents in class on Tuesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then reading to learn about the cell cycle.  Students began class by defining several key vocabulary terms associated with cell division.  Next, we read chapter 2 section 3 on Cell Division together as a class.  Students were answering several guided reading questions as we read.  

Assignments: None.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students reviewed the process of solving polynomial equations and factoring polynomials.  Students then began factoring the difference of two squares, as well as factoring perfect square trinomials.   After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems from the textbook, page 401 #2-8, 9-21 odds and 25-29 odds, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and students reviewed the box method. Students then were introduced to the percent equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems where students were given some guided practice using the percent equation, students were assigned seven problems that they copied off the white board into their math notebooks, to be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given all of class time to finalize their photosynthesis and respiration diagrams, and then to begin the rough drafts of their explanatory essays. 

Students are responsible for creating a diagram outlining the related processes of photosynthesis and respiration as well as writing a four paragraph explanatory essay comparing the two processes.  Both assignments are due at the end of class on this Friday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Students reviewed the process of solving polynomial equations and factoring polynomials with their G.C.F.'s.  Students then began factoring polynomials in the form of ax2 + bx + c.   After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 7.6 Practice A worksheet (odds only) to be due on Thursday in class.

Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and students reviewed comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percents. Students then were introduced to the box method, a common method to find a missing value in proportion form.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems where students were given some guided practice using the box method, students were assigned the section 6.3 Practice A worksheet, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped into chapter 6 and students reviewed comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percents.  We then transitioned into finding percents of a given number. Students were assigned and given class time to begin the activities for section 6.3, workbook pages 121-123, which are due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:   Review HW #40 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were then assigned the activities for section 6.3, workbook pages 121-123, which are due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  We then reviewed the processes of photosynthesis and respiration.  Students were asked to make the connection between the two by realizing that they are opposite processes that need the products of one process for the other to function.  Students were then introduced to this weeks activities.  Students will be responsible for creating a diagram outlining the related processes of photosynthesis and respiration as well as writing a four paragraph explanatory essay comparing the two processes.  Both assignments are due at the end of class on this Friday.
