7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued with linear equations and chapter 8.  Today students were finding solutions to equations with two variables.  Once students found several solutions, or ordered pairs for each equation, they were able to graph the equation.  After some teacher instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the 8.2 worksheet in it entirety.

Assignments:  Students should be completing the 8.2 worksheet for class on Thursday.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with making some test corrections to their chapter 5 tests.  We then transitioned back into fractals.  Today students used the knowledge they gained through the film on fractals to help them in measuring the coastline of Douglas Island.   

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island before Friday.       

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students used a triple venn diagram to compare and contrast the similarities and differences of the three eco-types we studies during the Local Ecology Project (wetlands, old growth and new growth).  We then watched several iMovies from Mr. White's classroom and Mr. Campbell's classroom to end the day.  Students can expect to spend the class period on Thursday walking the trail around the school.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued with linear equations and chapter 8.  Today students graded their 8.1 homework, before we practiced solving multiple step equations to remind students of the process of solving for a variable within an equation.    

Assignments:  Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island before Wednesday.     

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with making some test corrections to their chapter 5 tests.  We then transitioned into Fractals and where we can find images of fractals in our everyday lives.  We then started watching film on the history and origins of fractals.  We will continue watching the film Tuesday in class.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island before Wednesday.     

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students finalized the voiceover process for their groups iMovie.   After finalizing their voiceovers, some photo editing needed to occur, and groups who completed the voiceovers, began the final editing process. 
Groups should have exported their group iMovies onto the site flash drive by the end of class.  
  
Assignments:   Students can be continuing work on their "On Their Own Time Animal Projects".  It will be due tomorrow, May 21st.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were introduced to linear equations and chapter 8.  Today students were using graphs and diagrams to represent relations and functions.  Students learned some key vocabulary related to relations and functions, and after some teacher led instruction and several examples of key concepts, student were assigned the 8.1 worksheet as homework.    

Assignments:  The section 8.1 worksheet will be due on Monday 5/20.    

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.   Next, students took the chapter 5 test.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.     

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students finalized the voiceover process for their groups iMovie.   After finalizing their voiceovers, some photo editing needed to occur, and groups who completed the voiceovers, began the final editing process.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students participated in an Open House, where each student was able to view every other students "Dream House".  Students evaluated the house they thought looked the best, as well as the house that included all of the requirements and looked very polished.  We then went to the computer lab and students were given about 25 minutes to work on their Study Island sites.   

Assignments:  None.   

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.   Students participated in a Around the Room chapter review activity, designed to help students prepare for the upcoming chapter 5 test on Thursday.   

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.   Students will be taking the chapter 5 test on Thursday of this week.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began or continued with the voiceover process for their groups iMovie.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into their isometric dream house project.  Today students continued with the polishing process.  The project will be due, with all rough drafts and surface area and volume calculations,  on Wednesday morning at the beginning of class.   

Assignments:   Students should be finalizing their "dream house" final products as it is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday morning.      

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.   Students used the foldable they created on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers and multiplying and dividing fractions to participate in a game of fraction jeopardy.   

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.   Students will be taking the chapter 5 test on Thursday of this week.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began focusing on completing their storyboard/script for their Local Ecology Project iMovie.  Several groups began the voiceover process today in class, and all groups will be expected to complete the voiceovers by the end of class on Thursday of this week.   
  
Assignments:   Students can be continuing work on their "On Their Own Time Animal Projects".  It will be due on May 21st.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into their isometric dream house project.  Today students began the polishing process.  The project will be due, with all rough drafts and surface area and volume calculations,  on Tuesday morning at the end of class.   

Assignments:   Students should be finalizing their "dream house" final products as it is due at the end of class on Tuesday morning.      

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.   Students used the foldable they created on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers and multiplying and dividing fractions to complete a worksheet on multiplying and dividing fractions.  Students will be allowed to use their foldables on the upcoming chapter test.  As students finished the worksheet they transitioned into playing fraction checkers against one of their classmates.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began focusing on completing their storyboard/script for their Local Ecology Project iMovie.  Groups were putting final touches on their scripts today in class, as well as entering the photos from our plots from last Friday's field day and updating their groups temperature data and saving their line graphs as a jpeg to enter into their iMovie.  Voiceovers will begin tomorrow in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into their isometric dream house project.  Students calculated their surface area and volume of their dream house.  Next, students began transferring their rough drafts onto larger dot paper.  All students should be coming to class on Friday with their rough drafts transferred to the larger dot paper.  

Assignments:   Students should be finalizing their "dream house" rough drafts by class on Friday.    

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students participated in building a foldable activity.  Students used the foldable they created yesterday on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers to complete a worksheet on adding and subtracting fractions.   Students then focused on multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers and created a foldable.  Students will be allowed to use their foldables on the upcoming chapter test.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began focusing on completing their storyboard/script for their Local Ecology Project iMovie.  Other groups members were focused on organizing their photos on iMovie as well as entering captions on the pictures within their iMovie.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into their isometric dream house project.  Students were finalizing their rough drafts today in class, and began to calculate the surface area and volume of the their houses.  

Assignments:   Students should be finalizing their "dream house" rough drafts by the end of class on Thursday.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students participated in building a foldable activity.  Today students focused on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.  Students will be allowed to use their foldables on the upcoming chapter test.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began dropping their group photos into iPhoto and organizing the folders, before dropping all of their photos into iMovie.  Once groups have dropped photos into iMovie, they started working on the flow of the movie.  Students also started writing their storyboards or their groups scripts for the voiceovers that will begin next Monday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students took the chapter 10 test.    

Assignments:   Students should be continuing to design and sketch their "dream house".  All students should have a final rough draft of their dream house by the end of class on Thursday of this week. 

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into fractions.  Today students reviewed Least Common Denominators and practiced solving one and two step equations involving fractions and using the LCD to clear the fractions.  Students were then assigned the 5.7 worksheet (odds only) and given about 20 minutes of class time to get started.  

Assignments:   Students should be completing the section 5.7 worksheet (odds only) for class on Wednesday.  Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began organizing their groups data, materials and photos for the Local Ecology iMovie Project.  Students groups were assigned an iMac computer in the lab, and that will be their groups computer throughout the iMovie project.  Students began dropping their group photos into iPhoto and organizing the folders, before dropping all of their photos into iMovie.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students participated in a chapter 10 review activity.  Students will be taking the chapter 10 test on Tuesday in class.   

Assignments:   Students should be continuing to design and sketch their "dream house".  All students should have a final rough draft of their dream house by the end of class on Thursday of this week.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into our isometric perspective unit.  Today students were calculating the surface area and volume of several shapes.  Students were then introduced to the Isometric Dream House project.  Students will be designing, drawing and finalizing their "dream house" following several guidelines and including several requirements.    

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into fractions.  Today students were introduced to multiplicative inverses.  Students began practicing solving equations with fractions by using the fractions multiplicative inverse.  

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students viewed the film "Seasonal Forests" and completed a video guide worksheet as they viewed the film.

7th Grade Math:  Today in 7th grade pre-algebra, students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped back into our isometric perspective unit.  Today students were introduced to the Top, Front and Right perspectives of a three dimensional object.  Students drew an object from the isometric perspective, and then continued to draw the Front, Right and Top perspectives.   

Assignments:   Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in 8th grade pre-algebra, students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into dividing fractions.  Today students spent the hour completing the 5.5 worksheet on dividing fractions.  It will be due on Thursday in class. 

Assignments:   Students should be completing the section 5.5 worksheet if they did not complete it during the class time provided.  Students should be spending at least 15 minutes on Study Island by Friday.      

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a classifying activity, where students classified five different mammals by using a taxonomic key for mammals.  Students were also introduced to the "On Their Own Time Animal Project".  This project will be due for everyone on May 21st.
