8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period grading the chapter 1 test.  We then continued our class discussion concerning the coordinate plane.  Students were introduced to two more new vocabulary words, congruent and corresponding, that they then practiced applying on the examples we worked on together in class. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned page 24 of their practice workbooks, to be due Friday in class.   

Assignments:  Review HW #17 is due Friday in class.  Page 24 of the practice workbooks is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We then jumped back into section 6 of chapter 2 on similar shapes and how the area and perimeter may be affected when working with similar shapes.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples we did together, students were assigned page 44 of the practice workbook, to be due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced to the 30 science vocabulary words that they will be expected to memorize over the next week.  Students were given class time to finish defining the prefixes, suffixes and root words they need to commit to memory.  Once done with defining the words, students began creating flashcards to help memorize the words.  

Assignments:  Students should be memorizing the 30 vocabulary words as they will be tested on these on Wednesday November 4th.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period grading the chapter 1 test.  We then continued our class discussion concerning the coordinate plane.  Students viewed a video about the coordinate plane, filled in a worksheet that included the lyrics of the rap in the video, before we reviewed the important aspects of using the coordinate plane.  Students were asked to complete four problems related to coordinate planes for homework, to be due on Thursday in class.   

Assignments:  Review HW #17 is due Friday in class.  The worksheet on coordinate planes is due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We then jumped into section 6 of chapter 2 on similar shapes and how the area and perimeter may be affected when working with similar shapes.  Students began working on Activities 1-4 in their practice workbooks in class, and pages 41-43 of the practice workbooks will be due in class on Thursday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period grading the chapter 1 test.  We then continued our class discussion concerning the coordinate plane.  Students participated in a class wide activity designed to bring an understanding about the importance of "why" the coordinate plane is set up the way it is, and the vocabulary associated with how to properly use the coordinate plane.  We will jump into chapter 2 officially on Wednesday.     

Assignments:  Review HW #16 is due Wednesday in class.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We then jumped back into section 5 of chapter 2 on similar shapes and proportions and how to identify them.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples working with the cross products property, students were assigned page 40 of their practice workbooks, to be due Wednesday in class.
 
Assignments:  Review HW #16 is due Wednesday in class.  Page 40 of the practice workbooks is due Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given about 15 minutes of class time to complete the "How well do I know these words" worksheet.  We then transitioned into a presentation on prefixes, suffixes, and root words.  Students filled out a note-taking guide during the presentation, and turned it in to the box before leaving.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We reviewed the coordinate plane and how to use it, and went over several key vocabulary words.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students watched the end of the Mythbusters episode we began on Friday in class, before we transitioned into the next unit on chemistry.  Today students began filling out a "How well do I know these words" vocabulary worksheet, which will be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Students should be completing the Chemistry "How well do I know these words" worksheet for class on Tuesday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period completing the chapter 1 review, as the chapter 1 test is scheduled for Thursday/Friday of this week.  

Assignments:  Review HW #15 is due Thursday in class.  Students are taking the chapter 1 test in class starting Thursday, and into Friday if necessary.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We reviewed the coordinate plane and how to use it, and went over several key vocabulary words.  Today students picked back up on section 2.4 on Rotations within a plane.  After a brief discussion on how to define rotations, and a chance to work through several examples together in class, students were assigned the section 2.4 worksheet on page 36 in the student workbooks, to be due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then took the Dry Ice Investigations unit test.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students were then given class time to continue working with literal equations and rewriting formulas on the section 1.4 practice B worksheet.  That worksheet is due Wednesday in class.  The Chapter 1 TEST is scheduled for Thursday/Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #15 is due Thursday in class.  The section 1.4 practice B worksheet is due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We reviewed the coordinate plane and how to use it, and went over several key vocabulary words.  Today students picked back up on section 2.4 on Rotations within a plane.  After a brief discussion on how to define rotations, students were given class time to work on activities 2 & 3 in their practice workbooks (pages 33-35) to be due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students groups then presented their results and findings from their Dry Ice Investigations to their classmates.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students then continued rewriting formulas.  Mr. Olsen led students through several examples before introducing the idea of literal equations, or equations that have two or more variables.  Students should be completing page 18 of their practice workbooks for class on Friday. 

Assignments:  Review HW #14 is due Friday in class.  Page 18 of the practice workbook is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued to work with chapter 2 and Transformations.  We reviewed the coordinate plane and how to use it, and went over several key vocabulary words.  Today students were briefly introduced to the idea of rotations before we were interrupted and asked to have a conversation with all students regarding the ALICE protocols the district has put into place concerning school and student safety in the event of an emergency.  
 
Assignments:  Review HW #14 is due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given class time to begin reviewing for the upcoming Dry Ice unit test, scheduled for next Wednesday.  Students were given a review packet of key vocabulary words, concepts and diagrams that they could work together to fill out.  Students will be allowed to use a 3" x 5" notecard to assist them on the test.  

Students can expect a Dry Ice Unit test on Wednesday of next week.  (October 21st).

Assignments:  Students can and should be reviewing for the Dry Ice Investigations Test on Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given one last day of class time to complete and finalize their groups Dry Ice Investigation posters.  Posters are due at the beginning of class on Thursday.  

Students can expect a Dry Ice Unit test on Wednesday of next week.  (October 21st).

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students were then introduced to solving formulas for a specified component of that formula.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students attempted to solve three different formulas for a certain part, and then find an actual measurement.  Students should be completing the activities on page 17 of their practice workbooks.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students then continued working with solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.  Today students were continuing to work with solving equations, and we focused on solving multi-step equations together in class.  Students were assigned a worksheet involving multi-step equations and given about 25 minutes of class time to start working on it.  Any problems not completed in class is considered homework (section 1.3 Practice A), to be due Friday in class.  Students can expect a quiz on solving one, two and multi-step equations on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #12 is due Friday in class.  The worksheet involving multi-step equations is homework (section 1.3 Practice A), and is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then were introduced to chapter 2 and Transformations.  We reviewed the coordinate plane and how to use it, and went over several key vocabulary words.  Today students continued working with translations and transformations when working with tessellations.  After some teacher led instruction, and a few activities in class, students were assigned the section 2.2 Practice B worksheet, to be due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced to the Dry Ice Investigation Poster Presentation project and we reviewed how each group can meet their teacher's expectations.  Students were then given the remaining time in class to begin producing a detailed lab report, detailing the information gained through the activities conducted in class throughout the week.   

Assignments:  Students can be working on their final detailed lab report.  Each student must complete their own lab report before each group can begin typing up the information in order to produce a poster product to display their group's results and conclusions.  The final poster will be due on Thursday October 15th.

Assignments:  Students should be bringing in their completed lab report from todays experiments to class on Thursday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students then continued working with solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.  Today students were continuing to work with solving equations while solving for surface area and volume of a given rectangular prism.  After a bit of teacher led instruction and an example or two, students were asked to complete two problems on their own.  Students were assigned page 14 of their practice workbook as homework, to be due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students reviewed the importance of detailed procedures, before being given class time to tweak their investigations from Monday in order to be better prepared to conduct an experiment on Wednesday, based on each group having a defined Test Variable and Outcome Variable identified before we begin on Wednesday.  

Assignments:  Students should be bringing in any necessary materials needed to conduct their newly created experiments on Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Some students then continued to progress through the levels of their assigned Flashmasters, while others, who have tested out of Flashmasters began class with the POD.  Students then continued working with solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.  Students were reminded of some key vocabulary, before they were given about 20 minutes of class time to begin working on page 11 of their workbooks.  Problems a, b, c, d on page 11 will be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #11 is due Wednesday in class.  Page 11 from the workbook is due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then were given the remaining time in class to complete the chapter 1 standards assessment. 

Assignments:  Review HW #11 is due Wednesday in class.  The standards assessment is due Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then given the remaining class time to conduct their dry ice investigations.  Once Mr. Olsen approved each groups materials and procedures lists, students were allowed to gather their needed materials and then conduct their investigations in a safe environment.  Students are responsible for filling out a detailed lab report based on what they observed in their investigation.  The lab write up is due Tuesday in class.
