8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today, students began the review process for the upcoming chapter 2 test, scheduled for Tuesday December 2.  Students spent the class period reviewing and working on combining like terms and simplifying expressions.  We also spent time on solving equations using inverse operations.     

Assignments:  Review HW #20 is due Wednesday in class.   

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to the metric system.  Today we reviewed the common prefixes used when measuring length using the metric system.  After some teacher led instruction, and a few example problems, students were assigned the section 2.6 worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #20 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were assigned the section 2.6 worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class. 

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to section 2 and the organelles within a cell.  Students have been creating flashcards to help them identify the different organelles with a plant and animal cell, before we completed the reading of chapter 1 section 2 of the Cells and Heredity Text book.  Students then completed a venn diagram comparing and contrasting animal and plant cells.  

Assignments:  Students were handed the section 1.2 worksheet on Looking Inside Cells, which will be due Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We continued reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students then reviewed the rules for working with decimal numbers when using all operations, as the final section in chapter 2 deals with solving equations with decimal numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 2.7 worksheet (odds only) to be due Tuesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We continued reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students reviewed how to solve equations using multiplication and/or division.  Next, students took a quiz on solving equations.     

Assignments:  Students were handed a worksheet where they will practice finding the area and perimeter of triangles for homework, to be due Monday.   

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students took a quiz on decimal operations and scientific notation.   

Assignments:  Students were handed a worksheet to help them learn the metric units for length, and it will be due on Monday.   

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students took a vocabulary test on the 33 roots, prefixes and suffixes they have been memorizing for the past week.     

Assignments:  Students were handed a word search on the new vocabulary about cell organelles, to be due on Friday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We continued reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students reviewed how to solve equations using multiplication and/or division.  Next, students reviewed the rules for working with decimal operations, as the final section of chapter two deals with solving equations that include decimal numbers.  Students can expect a quiz on solving equations in class on Thursday.    

Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Thursday in class.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students were introduced to the metric system.  Students were introduced to some key vocabulary in regards to the basic units of measurement when using the metric system before we ran out of class time.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned back into memorizing the 33 scientific vocabulary prefixes, suffixes and root words that all students will be required to know.  Students participated in a review activity designed to help them continue memorizing the 33 vocabulary words.  The vocab test is scheduled for Thursday of this week.    

Assignments:  Students should be reviewing their 33 flashcards of the vocabulary words they will be tested on, on Thursday of this week.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We then began reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students reviewed how to solve equations using multiplication and/or division.  After some teacher led instruction and several more example problems, students were given a choice of assignments, page 99 #8-24 OR page 804 #36-51, to be due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students continued working with scientific notation, product form and standard form.  After some teacher led instruction and several more examples where we were converting standard form numbers into product form and scientific notation and vise versa, students were assigned some problems from the book to continue practicing these skills, page 80 #1-29 odds, to be due Wednesday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned back into memorizing the 33 scientific vocabulary prefixes, suffixes and root words that all students will be required to know.  Students spent some time today defining several new vocabulary words related to cells, before they were given the rest of the class time to continue memorizing the 33 prefixes, suffixes and root words they will have a vocabulary test on.  The vocab test is scheduled for Thursday of this week.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We then began reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students reviewed how to solve equations using addition and subtraction today, before we began solving multiplication and division equations using inverse operations.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 2.6 worksheet, to be due Tuesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.    We then began reviewing how to solve equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students reviewed how to solve equations using addition and subtraction today.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned problems from the text book, page 93 #11-26, to be due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students reviewed the rules associated with multiplying decimals, before we reviewed the rules of division and dividing decimal numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples where we were solving division problems involving decimals together, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 72, #1-19 (odds), to be due Friday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into our next unit on cells.  Today in class students participated in a powerpoint presentation introducing some biology vocabulary words, including prefixes, suffixes and root words related to biology.  Students filled in a note-taking guide during the presentation, and there are several questions at the end of the note-taking guide that need to be answered using complete sentences, and is due on Friday in class.     

Assignments:  The science vocabulary note-taking guide is due Friday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students reviewed solving equations with variables and writing equations based on verbal sentences (section 2.4).  We then transitioned into solving equations using inverse (opposite) operations.  Students were introduced to solving equations using addition and subtraction today.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 2.5 worksheet as homework, to be due Thursday 11/13 (the next time our class will meet).     

Assignments:  The homework, the section 2.5 worksheet, is due Thursday 11/13 in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students reviewed the rules associated with multiplying decimals, before we reviewed the rules of division and dividing decimal numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples where we were solving division problems involving decimals together, students were assigned the section 2.4 worksheet to be due Thursday 11/13 in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into our next unit on cells.  Today in class students defined several key vocabulary words, before we read section one of chapter one in the Cells and Heredity textbook on Discovering Cells together.  Students were then assigned the section 1.1 worksheet on Discovering Cells.  The worksheet, section 1.1, will be due Thursday 11/13 in class.
