7th Grade Math:  Today in math students took the math MAPs test.  

Assignments:   Students were also assigned the 6.3 worksheet for homework  due Friday in class. 

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students took the math MAPs test.     

Assignments:  None.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students continued working with the analogy between a cell and our school.   Students listed the 13 different organelles of a cell, and compared them through analogy, to a similar part of our school and colored in a map of our school detailing the different rooms of the school that represent the associated organelles of the cell.  

Assignments:    Students should have the Discovering Cells analogy worksheet and a colored map of our school representing the organelles of a cell by Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students transitioned back into chapter 6.  Today, we graded our 6.2 worksheet that was homework, before students continued working with proportions.  Students were introduced to the idea of cross products and how to solve proportions using the cross products property.  Students were then assigned the 6.3 worksheet as homework.  

Assignments:   Students were also assigned the 6.3 worksheet for homework  due Friday in class.   Students will be taking the math MAPs test tomorrow (Thursday) in class.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with some Do Now problems.  Next, we moved into inequalities and section 4 of chapter 3.  Students defined inequalities, solutions to inequalities and equivalent inequalities, before having a class discussion on how to graph a solution to an inequality.     

Assignments:  Students will be taking the math MAPs test tomorrow (Thursday) in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent the class period making an analogy between a cell and our school.  Building on our analogy of a cell is like a factory because....that we talked about yesterday in class.  Students listed the 13 different organelles of a cell, and compared them through analogy, to a similar part of our school.

Assignments:    Students have the Discovering Cells analogy worksheet to complete by class time on Thursday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students transitioned back into chapter 6.  Today, we graded our 6.1 worksheet that was homework, before students were introduced to proportions.  Students practiced solving proportions using equivalent ratios, algebra, and writing and solving proportions from word problems.  Students were then assigned the 6.2 worksheet as homework.  

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #28 is due by the end of the day Wednesday.  Students were also assigned the 6.2 worksheet for homework  due Wednesday in class.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with some Do Now problems.  Next, we moved back into section 3 of chapter 3 on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.   Students needed extra work and practice solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign, so we spent the class period completing several problems on a worksheet together.    

Assignments:   Review Homework #30 on Study Island is due on Wednesday.   The Practice A section 3.3 worksheet (odds Only) is due Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent the class period taking notes from a powerpoint where Mr. Olsen compared a cell to a factory, and the different roles the organelles play within the cell.    Students were handed a brief worksheet to complete as homework, due on Wednesday in class.   

Assignments:    Students have the Modeling Cell Structures worksheet to complete by class time on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students completed the chapter 5 test.  We then transitioned back into chapter 6 on ratios and unit rates.  Students reviewed what a ratio is and  about the three different ways to display a ratio.  We also worked with equivalent ratios, and how to order and compare those ratios.  Students were then assigned the 6.1 worksheet as homework.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students took the chapter 5 test.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students continued working on a quiz we started last Friday, before we moved into section 3 of chapter 3 on solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #29 on Study Island is due on Friday.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent the class period rehashing all they learned about the body by participating in an activity we began back in December when we started learning about the human body and its systems.  

Assignments:    Students will be heading outside on Friday of this week as we continue our Local Ecology Project.  Students should be prepared for rain, snow, and wet and cold conditions.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before we graded the 5.7 worksheet.  Students had lots of questions concerning inequalities, so we spent some time going over the rules of inequalities as well as solving several example problems.  Students were then assigned some review work on page 807 of the text book.  

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #26 is due by the end of the day Friday.    The work from the textbook page 807 # 1-43 (odds) is due Friday in class.  Students can also expect a quiz on sections 5.6 and 5.7 Friday in class.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students worked through several one step equations to begin class, before we jumped back into solving two step equations involving like terms and parentheses.  Not many students completed the 3.2 worksheet that was homework, so we spent the class period today working on the assignment together in class.  Students can expect a quiz on one and two step equations on Friday in class.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #28 on Study Island is due on Friday.  Students were assigned the the 3.2 worksheet  to be due on Friday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent the class period today learning the major functions of all 11 body systems, as well as completing a Body System Study Guide that students will be able to use on the test on Friday.   

Assignments:    Students can be reviewing their notes from the body system presentations in preparation for the upcoming body system quiz on Friday of this week.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before we graded the 5.6 worksheet that was homework.  Next, students were introduced to solving equations and inequalities by using the LCD.  Today we spent time clearing decimals based on place value, and finally solving inequalities involving fractions and decimals.  Students were assigned the 5.7 worksheet for homework, and are to come into class on Thursday with questions.     

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #26 is due by the end of the day Friday.    The section 5.7 worksheet is due Thursday in class.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students worked through several one step equations to begin class, before we jumped back into solving two step equations.  Today students continued practicing identifying and combining like terms and solving equations involving the distributive property.  Students were assigned the 3.2 worksheet to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Student participated in a presentation from Ms. Donaldson (our counselor) on the Reproductive system.  Students filled in a worksheet while listening to the presentation.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before we graded the 5.6 worksheet that was homework.  Next, students were introduced to solving equations and inequalities by using the LCD.  We spent time reviewing one and two step equations involving fractions, before we began practicing solving equations by using the LCD.  We ran out of time before we got into inequalities.  Students were assigned five (5) problems out of their at home textbooks, Pg. 256 # 13, 15, 16, 17, 20.  These problems will be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students jumped back into multiplicative inverses.  Students were handed their quizzes from Friday, and reminded to make their corrections by Tuesday if they would like to earn credit from learning from their mistakes.  We quickly reviewed one and two step equations and students were reminded that in order to solve one and two step equations, they need to use inverse properties.  Then we practiced solving equations that involved fractions by using the multiplicative inverse.  Students were then assigned the 5.6 worksheet for homework (evens only).     

Assignments:   Study Island Review Homework #25 is due by the end of the day Wednesday.  The section 5.6 worksheet (evens only) is due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students were introduced to multiplicative inverses.  We graded the 5.5 worksheet on dividing fractions and answered any questions from the homework before surging forward.  Todays lesson was cut short by the time factor, but students were reminded of how to solve one step equations, and how to apply those same rules to solving one step equations involving fractions.    

Assignments:   Students can expect a quiz on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions on Friday in class.    

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students worked through several one step equations to begin class, before we jumped back into solving two step equations.  We worked through the 3.1 worksheet on solving two step equations together in class, before we spent the final 20 minutes of class time in the computer lab for students to work on their Study Island review homework.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #26 on Study Island is due on Thursday.   The 3.1 worksheet practice A is due on Friday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Student groups then began presenting their powerpoint presentations on their assigned body systems.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students were introduced to dividing fractions.  Students learned what a reciprocal was and how to apply the use of reciprocals when dividing fractions.  After some teacher led instruction and several group examples, students were assigned the 5.5 worksheet.    

Assignments:   Review homework #24 on Study Island is due on Thursday.  The section 5.5 worksheet is due Thursday in class.   

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students worked through several one step equations to begin class, before we jumped back into solving two step equations.  We worked through several examples of negative coefficients, before students were assigned the 3.1 worksheet for homework and given about 30 minutes of class time to complete the assignment.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #26 on Study Island is due on Thursday.   The 3.1 worksheet is due on Thursday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students used the class period to practice their presentations in front of a group of peers.  Groups gave feedback to the presenters, and the presenters can use that feedback to better prepare for the Human Body Presentations scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week.  

Assignments:    Students can be learning and practicing their presentations in preparation for Thursday and Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students jumped back into multiplying fractions.  We went through several example problems as a class, including fractions that include variables and exponents.  Students were reminded of the rules associated with multiplying and dividing exponents, and we worked through several examples before students were assigned the 5.4 worksheet for homework   

Assignments:   Review homework #24 on Study Island is due on Thursday.  The section 5.4 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.   

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students worked through several one step equations to begin class, before we jumped back into solving two step equations.  We worked through several examples as a group before we ran out of class time.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day, before students reviewed adding and subtracting like and unlike fractions and mixed numbers.  Next, students began taking notes on multiplying fractions.  After our brief review, we ran out of time to actually get to the 5.4 worksheet.      

Assignments:   None.  

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students reviewed one step equations which led into chapter 3 section 1 on solving two step equations using addition and subtraction.  We practiced several examples before running out of class time.  

Assignments:   None.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students evaluated another groups powerpoint presentations through a checklist and providing feedback for groups to focus on tomorrow when we use computer lab time to edit and finalize their powerpoint presentations.  

Assignments:    Evaluations are due tomorrow if students did not complete the evaluations in the class time provided.
