7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students completed their chapter 7 tests.  

Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #20 is due by the end of the day on Friday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 4 section two.  Students were introduced to two methods of finding the GCF of two or more numbers.  Method one involves listing all of the factors of the numbers in questions and circling the greatest number in each list.  Method two involves finding the prime factorization of each number in question, circling the factors in common, and then multiplying the common factors together in order to determine the GCF.   

Assignments:  Review homework #14 will be due on Friday in class.               

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were assigned groups for the roller coaster projects.  Students then joined up in their groups and assigned group roles and began attaching the columns to the bases.            

Assignments:  None.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students were introduced to calculating compounding annual interest.  Students were given the formula to solve for account balances as well as/or the interest rate.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 7.7 worksheet (odds only) as homework.  
Students can expect the chapter 7 test on Friday of this week. 

Assignments:  The section 7.7 worksheet is due Friday in class. Study Island Review Homework #19 is due by the end of the day on Friday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 4 section one.  Students spent todays class period completing the section 4.1 worksheet while several adults were in the classroom to help as needed.    

Assignments:  Review homework #13 will be due on Friday in class. The section 4.1 worksheet will be due Friday in class.               

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students used the class period to continue building the beams needed to build our paper roller coasters.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students were introduced to calculating simple interest and account balances.  We had some good discussions in class, which led to us running out of class time.  Students were assigned the chapter 7 standardized test at the end of chapter 7 as homework, page 373 #1-13. 
 
Assignments:  The chapter 7 standardized test, page 373 is due Thursday in class. Study Island Review Homework #19 is due by the end of the day on Friday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 4.  Students continued taking some notes on section 4.1 on writing the prime factorization of a number.  Students practiced making some factor trees of several numbers, in order to write out the prime factorization of each example.  After some teacher led instruction, students were assigned some problems from their at home text books, page 175, #16-40 Evens only.    

Assignments:  Review homework #13 will be due on Friday in class. Problems assigned from page 175, #16-40 Evens only are due Thursday in class.              

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students used the class period to continue building the columns and beams needed to build our paper roller coasters.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students completed the notes on section 7.6 on calculating mark ups, discounts, sales tax and tips.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 7.6 worksheet as homework, and given about 15 minutes of class time to get started on their assignment.  
 
Assignments:  The section 7.6 worksheet is due Wednesday in class. Study Island Review Homework #18 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 4.  Students began taking some notes on section 4.1 on writing the prime factorization of a number.  Students practiced making some factor trees of several numbers, in order to write out the prime factorization of each example.  After some teacher led instruction, we ran out of time.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to the next project, making paper roller coasters!  Students were introduced to the physics of roller coasters and how they work, before we spent the rest of the class period building the columns for the actual roller coasters that will be built by the groups over the next two weeks.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students were introduced to finding the new price of an item that include mark ups and discounts.  After some teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned some homework problems from the text book, page 360, #8-12 all, to be due on Tuesday in class.
 
Assignments:  The problems from the book, page 360, #8-12 are due Tuesday in class. Study Island Review Homework #18 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  


8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced or they reviewed prime numbers via "The Sieve of Eratosthenes." By completing the worksheet, students should be able to see the pattern of prime numbers between 1 and 100.  This will be due Tuesday in class.   

Assignments:  Review homework #12 will be due on Wednesday in class.             

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given the class period to finalize and explain how they incorporated Newton's Laws of Motion into their own comic strips.  The projects were due TODAY at the end of the class period, and students may take their explanation worksheet home to complete it as homework, if they did not use the class time available to complete in class.         

Assignments:  Students should be completing their explanation worksheet, explaining how they incorporated Newton's law into their comic strips, if they did not complete it in the class time given.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students demonstrated their abilities to convert decimals, fractions and percents on a quiz.  
 
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #17 is due by the end of the day on Friday.  

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students spent the class period completing the chapter 3 test.     

Assignments:  Friday is the last day of the 3rd quarter, and if students have any missing work, Friday is the last day to get it turned in.            

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to Newton's Laws of Motion Comic Strip project.  Each student will be responsible for completing at least a three square comic strip illustrating each of Newton's three laws of motion.  The due date for this project will be the beginning of class on Tuesday March 25.  Students will be held accountable for having a completed rough draft for each of the three laws by the end of class on Friday of this week.        

Assignments:  Students can be working on the rough drafts of their Newton's Laws of Motion comic strips for class on Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students continued working within chapter 7.  Today, students were introduced to finding the percent of change in a quantity, including increases and decreases.  After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned the section 7.5 worksheet as homework.  
 
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #17 is due by the end of the day on Friday.  The section 7.5 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.        


8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students spent the class period working on the chapter 3 test.     

Assignments:  Friday is the last day of the 3rd quarter, and if students have any missing work, Friday is the last day to get it turned in.            

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a lab designed to help students make some connections with Newton's Third 
law of Motion.          

Assignments:  Students should be completing their lab report from today's in class lab if they did not complete in the time provided.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students continued working within chapter 7.  Students were introduced to the percent equation today in class.   After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned the section 7.4 worksheet as homework.  
 
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #16 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  The section 7.4 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.        


8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students spent the class period reviewing for the chapter 3 test scheduled for Wednesday in class.     

Assignments:  Review homework #11 is due Wednesday in class.          

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students watched a film titled "Making Stuff Faster".  Students filled out a note taking guide as they watched the film.          

Assignments:  Students should be section 2.4 worksheet on Newton's third law of motion for class on Wednesday.

Next, students continued working within chapter 7.  Students have worked through sections one and two of chapter 7 on their own, and today students were introduced to solving percent problems using proportions and/or the Box Method. After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were assigned the section 7.3 worksheet as homework.  
 
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #16 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  The section 7.3 worksheet is due Tuesday in class.        

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students spent some time reviewing the rules of inequalities, before they continued to use the rules associated with dividing and multiplying negative integers. Students then continued solving multi step inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction, and a few example problems, students were assigned the section 3.6 worksheet (odds only) to be due Tuesday in class.  Students can expect the chapter 3 test on Wednesday in class.   

Assignments:  The section 3.6 worksheet (odds only) is due Tuesday in class.        

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to Newton's Third Law of Motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  We read section four of chapter together as a class, before students were assigned the 2.4 worksheet for homework, to be due Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students spent some time reviewing the rules of inequalities, before they continued to use the rules associated with dividing and multiplying negative integers. Students were then introduced to solving multi step inequalities.  After some teacher led instruction, and several example problems, students were assigned the section 3.5 worksheet (odds only) to be due Thursday in class.   

Assignments:  The section 3.6 worksheet (odds only) is due Friday in class.        

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students applied what they learned about Newton's second law of motion in a lab setting.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into probability.  Students were introduced to the idea of using tree diagrams to predict the possible choices of multiple events. Students were then introduced to the concept of the counting principal as a quicker way to calculate the same choices of an event. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.8 worksheet to be due Wednesday in class.  Students can expect the chapter 6 test on Thursday of this week.  
   
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #14 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  The section 6.8 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.           

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to solving inequalities using addition and/or subtraction.  Students spent some time reviewing the rules of inequalities, before they continued to use the rules associated with dividing and multiplying negative integers. After some teacher led instruction, and several example problems, students were assigned problems from the text book, page 146 #13-21 odds to be due Wednesday in class.   

Assignments:  Review homework #10 is due Wednesday in class. The problems assigned from the text book, page 146 #13-21 odds are due Wednesday in class.        

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students applied what they learned yesterday about Newton's First Law of Motion (Law of Inertia) into a lab. Student conducted two different experiments designed to help them put the words of the Law of Inertia into context.  Students should have completed their lab worksheets in class during the lab.      

Assignments:  Students were assigned the section 2 worksheet on the Nature of Force and it is due Wednesday in class.

Next, students jumped back into probability.  Students were reminded of the probability equation we learned last week, before they were introduced to finding experimental probability, as well as the odds in favor and odds against a certain situation possibly occurring.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 6.7 worksheet to be due Tuesday in class.  Students can expect the chapter 6 test on Thursday of this week.  
   
Assignments:  Study Island Review Homework #14 is due by the end of the day on Wednesday.  The section 6.7 worksheet is due Tuesday in class.           

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to solving inequalities using addition and/or subtraction.  Students spent some time reviewing the rules of inequalities, before they were introduced to the rules associated with dividing and multiplying negative integers.

Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students read chapter two section one, on the Nature of Forces.  We read the section together as a class, and students participated in a class discussion about Newton's First Law of Motion, commonly referred to as the Law of Inertia.
