8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3.  Students were introduced to their next task or project today.  Students will be identifying different polygons by name, and accurately measuring the side lengths in order to calculate the perimeter of each identified polygon.  Next, students will be calculating the interior angles measures of different polygons, and then drawing 8 perfect shapes using a protractor.  

Assignments:  The naming polygons and calculating the perimeters worksheet is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  Today students were asked how they could describe the graph of the equation y = mx + b.  Students were then given class time to work on the activities in their workbook from section 4.4 (pages 83-85).  These activities will be due Friday in class.

Assignments:  The workbook activities from section 4.4 (pages 83-85) are due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to finalize their rough drafts and begin working on or putting together their final products.    

Assignments:  The Selling my Element final draft advertisement project is due at the end of the class period on Friday January 29th.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3 and are learning about how to find the interior and exterior angles of different polygons.  After some teacher led instruction and the introduction of the formula for finding the sum of the exterior angles of a convex polygon, students were assigned some problems from their text book.  Page 123-124 #4,6,8,12-14, and 22-24 are due Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #32 is due Thursday in class.  The problems from the text book, pages 123-124 #4,6,8,12-14, and 22-24 are also due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  After a bit of teacher led instruction and several clarifications and example problems of how to determine if two or more lines are parallel or perpendicular within the coordinate plane.  Students then completed the quiz we began last Friday in class.  The section 4.2 Extension worksheet on the Slop of a Line is due Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #32 is due Thursday in class.  The section 4.2 Extension worksheet on the Slop of a Line is due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to begin putting together the rough drafts of their assigned element advertisements.  The final product is due at the end of class on this Friday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to continue researching their assigned element from the periodic table.  Students will be responsible for creating an element advertisement geared toward a specific target audience over the next few weeks of class.  

Assignments:  The Selling my Element research worksheet is due at the end of class on Friday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3 and are learning about how to find the interior and exterior angles of different polygons.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, students were asked to complete the activities (1 & 2) on pages 59-61 in the practice workbook for class on Thursday.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #31 is due Thursday in class.  Activities 1 & 2 on pages 59-61 of the practice workbook are due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  Students felt we needed some more practice working with the activities that had students graphing proportional relationships.  After some teacher led instruction and guidance, students were then asked to complete workbook page 82 for class on Thursday.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #31 is due Thursday in class.  Workbook page 82 is due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to begin researching their assigned element from the periodic table.  Students will be responsible for creating an element advertisement geared toward a specific target audience over the next few weeks of class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3 and are learning about how to find the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  Students went over the homework from the weekend, and then we answered several questions posed by students, before they were assigned some problems out of the book to help solidify their understanding of the concept. Students were given the last 15 minutes of class time to begin working on the homework assignment, pages 114-115 # 1-3; 8-14 evens; and 15-21 odds are due Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #31 is due Thursday in class.  Problems from the text book, pages 114-115, #1-3; 8-14 evens; and 15-21 odds are due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students reviewed what and how Ethos, Pathos and Logos are and how they are used within advertisements.  Students were then introduced to the next science project, Selling the Elements.  Students were assigned and element from the periodic table at random, and they will be responsible for creating an advertisement to sell that element to a specific target audience based on the uses of that element in the real world.  

Assignments:  None.  Students can begin researching their assigned element if they so choose.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students were then introduced (or reviewed) their knowledge of the appeals in advertising.  Students learned what Ethos, Pathos and Logos mean and how they are incorporated into advertisements in order to sway a consumer into purchasing a given product.  After a brief powerpoint presentation and going over several examples together in class, students were handed a worksheet and a magazine and asked to find an ad where each student can identify the method used by the company within the ad.  

Assignments:  Students can be working on the Appeals in Advertising worksheet that will be due at the end of class on Thursday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were given class time to compile and consolidate the information we have learned about the periodic table thus far, and complete three separate worksheet dedicated to being study guides for students as we near the end of the chemistry unit.  

Assignments:  The three review worksheets (Periodic Table Review; Metals Review and the Nonmetals and Metalloids Review) are due on Tuesday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped back into chapter 3 and are learning about how to find the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  Students were presented with the essential question, before being offered the remaining 25 minutes of the class period to begin working on the activities associated with section 3.2 in the practice workbook.  Pages 55-57 will be due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  Students felt we needed some more practice working with slope, so they continued working with and solving for the slope of a line.  After some teacher led instruction, students practiced several examples on their own in the class time remaining.    

Assignments:  Review Homework #30 is due Friday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Today, students were reading to learn about how the Elements are created in the Stars.  Students defined several key vocabulary words, and answered several guiding questions related to the reading of chapter 3 section 4, Elements from Stardust.  Students were given the remaining 10 minutes of class to complete the section 3.4 worksheet, to be due Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #29 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 51-53, are due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the slope of lines.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples of how to identify and find the slope of a line, students were assigned the section 4.2 Practice B worksheet, to be due Wednesday in class.
