Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now before all students took the semester one final exam on chapters 1 - 5.

Assignments:  None.

7th Grade Math: We didn't have math class today, as students were given class time to work with their social studies groups on the Longhouse projects that are due at the end of the day. 

Assignments: Review Homework #30 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students got back into their groups and jumped right back into working on the Longhouse Project.  Today was the final work day given to students during school hours.

We will be having an open house event on Wednesday December 20th from 1:30 until 2:30 for parents and family members who would like to come visit with us and see the final products!

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students were given the remaining time in class to work on a chapter 5 review sheet to prepare for the chapter 5 test scheduled for Friday in class.

The semester one final on chapters 1 - 5 is scheduled for next Tuesday 12/19/17.

Assignments:  Students can expect the chapter 5 test this Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned back into chapter 3. Next, students spent the class period practicing solving one step equations by using multiplication or division.  Students can expect a quiz on one-step equations on Friday in class.  

Assignments: Review Homework #29 is due on Friday in class. The section 3.4 Practice A worksheet is due on Friday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students got back into their groups and jumped right back into working on the Longhouse Project.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 5.  Students reviewed solving systems of linear equations through graphing as well as substitution and elimination.  We then began solving linear inequalities in two variables (section 5.6).  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 271 #3-15 odds; 19; 21; 25-29 odds; and 30 to be due on Wednesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 5 test this Friday in class.
The semester one final on chapters 1 - 5 is scheduled for next Tuesday 12/19/17.

Next, we reviewed our knowledge of identifying terms, like terms, coefficients, and constants.  Next, students spent the class period practicing solving one step equations by using multiplication or division.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were broken into groups and introduced to our Taku House wide project on longhouses.  Student groups will be building a model longhouse, modeled after a local clan and included will be some artistic component, a model longhouse as well as a model simple machine that helped them build this longhouse and a few different writing components describing their work and how it connects to the project goals.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a work lab where each students was calculating how much work it takes them to climb the Taku House staircase.  After some teacher led instruction, students were set free to complete the lab with their partner.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 5.  Students reviewed solving systems of linear equations through graphing as well as substitution.  We then began by solving some systems by any method as warm ups.  Next, students were given class time to begin working on the practice workbook activities for section 5.4.  Workbook pages 147-149 are due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned work from the practice workbook, pages 147-149, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned back into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of identifying terms, like terms, coefficients, and constants.  Next, students took a quiz on combining like terms and simplifying expressions and solving equations using addition or subtraction.   

Assignments: Review Homework #27 is due on Monday (December 11th) in class. Students were assigned a solving equations worksheet (double sided) that will also be due on Monday.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students worked with their assigned partner to create a poster of the research they conducted during class on Wednesday.  We will present the final products on Monday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 5.  Students reviewed solving systems of linear equations through graphing as well as substitution.  We then began solving systems using the elimination method.  After some teacher led instruction, and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book.  Page 251 #1; 2; 3-17 odds; 22; 23; 25, to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned back into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of identifying terms, like terms, coefficients, and constants.  Next, we continued our conversation about solving equations using addition and subtraction.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed a worksheet where they were solving addition equations by using subtraction.  

Assignments: Review Homework #27 is due on Monday (December 11th) in class. Students were assigned practice worksheet (section 7.2) on solving addition equations, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were paired up and assigned one of six simple machines, and given class time to research the machine and answer several questions in order to put together a poster of the research they conducted. Thursday, students will be putting the research into a poster to display the information they found concerning their assigned simple machine.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students revisited our lab from Monday's class on calculating "work."  Next, we began talking about simple machines.  We defined a simple machine and talked about how simple machines aid humans in accomplishing work.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 5.  Students were introduced to solving systems of linear equations through graphing.  The intersection point of the two lines graphed on the same coordinate plane is the solution to the system.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 239 #3; 4; 6; 8; 10; 18; 28, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  Students then were factoring fractions, decimals and negative factors out of a given expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned practice workbook pages 51 & 52, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into lab where they were calculating the amount of work they accomplished while "working out."  Students worked with a partner to make their way through the data sheet and completing the calculations for finding the amount of work they did while performing curls with light weights.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 4.  Students spent todays class period clarifying the rules to identifying, writing and graphing piecewise functions.  Next, students were handed a chapter 4 test review sheet, and given the remaining time in class to begin preparing for the chapter 4 test scheduled for Friday of this week.  

Assignments:  Students are taking the chapter 4 test on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 3. Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  Students then spent the class period finding the difference between expressions.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students jumped into chapter 4 and section 6.  Students began by reviewing how to identify and write arithmetic sequences. Next, students were also reviewing how to graph absolute value functions as well as working with simple and compound inequalities.  Students were then assigned some work from the practice workbook, pages 126-127 & 129, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Next, we reviewed our knowledge of finding GCFs and factor trees and prime factorization.  After completing some in class work, students completed their work with The Sieve of Eratosthenes, where students are identifying the prime numbers between 1 and 100. 

Assignments: Review Homework #24 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students were also assigned the section 3.2 practice A worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a class discussion on matter and chemical and physical changes of matter.  Students were given class time to complete the section 1.1 worksheet on Describing Matter.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students spent some class time quizzing each other on the 30 vocab words they are in the process of memorizing.  Students then participated in a review activity in table groups to help them prepare for the test tomorrow in class.
