8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.   Students then began working on the chapter 5 test.  Students will be expected to complete the test on Friday morning.  

Assignments:  Review HW #54 is due Friday in class.  The review packet handed out in class on Monday is due Friday in class.  

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began working with rational and irrational numbers.  Students reviewed the Pythagorean Theorem before we started talking about rational and irrational numbers. Students participated in a conversation about the difference between rational and irrational numbers before Mr. Olsen led them through a lesson on how to classify a value.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were given class time to complete the section 7.4 Practice B worksheet in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #54 is due Friday in class.  The review packet handed out in class on Monday is due Friday in class.   
  
Science:  Students did not meet for science today, Wednesday or Thursday due to MAPs testing in the mornings.  We are having math and language arts classes in the afternoon.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now. We then transitioned back into chapter 5.  Students were given all of the the class period to begin reviewing for the chapter 5 test that is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.  Students were handed a chapter 5 review activity and given class time to work on it.

Assignments:  Review HW #54 is due Friday in class.  The review packet handed out in class on Monday is due Friday in class.  The chapter 5 test will be Thursday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began working with rational and irrational numbers.  Students reviewed the Pythagorean Theorem before we started talking about rational and irrational numbers. 8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now. We then transitioned back into section 5.4 on solving systems by graphing.  Students reviewed the methods of substitution and elimination, before we continued setting equations equal to each other and then forming two equations in slope intercept form.  Students developed two x/y tables in order to find coordinates in order to graph both lines.  Once students graphed both lines, the solution to the system of equations is the intersection point on the graph. 

Assignments:  Review HW #53 is due Wednesday in class.  The review packet handed out in class on Monday is due Friday in class.  Workbook page 117 is due Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 5.  Today students completed the quiz we began in class on Friday.  We then transitioned into section 5.4 on solving systems by graphing.  Students reviewed the methods of substitution and elimination, before we began setting equations equal to each other and solving for the x variable.  Before class ended, students were reminded that MAPs testing will begin on Tuesday and continue through Thursday of this week.  Students were handed a review packet to work on throughout the week, and it will be due on Friday morning 4/30/16.  

Assignments:  Review HW #53 is due Wednesday in class.  The review packet handed out in class on Monday is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began working with cubic roots.  Students reviewed square and cubic roots, before we moved back into working with the Pythagorean Theorem.  Students reviewed the formula and began practicing finding missing side lengths of right triangles. Students were assigned the section 7.3 Practice B worksheet, to be due Tuesday in class.  Before class ended, students were reminded that MAPs testing will begin on Tuesday and continue through Thursday of this week.  Students were handed a review packet to work on throughout the week, and it will be due on Friday morning 4/30/16.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Today students were reading to learn about the different types of energy.  Students defined several key vocabulary words, before we read the section in the book detailing the types of energy students are learning about, kinetic and potential energy.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 5.  Today students continued working with solving systems of equations that have no solution or infinitely many solutions.  After some teacher led instruction that included some clues and tips of how to identify each type of set of equations and several examples, students were given class time to complete some problems out of the textbook page 227 #5-9, which will be due Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #51 is due Wednesday in class.  The problems from the textbook for section 5.4, page 227 #5-9, are due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began working with cubic roots.  Students continued working with identifying cubes as well as how to identify positive and negative cubic roots.  After we graded the homework and answered several students questions, students were asked to complete the activities for section 7.3 in the workbook, pages 151-153, to be due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Today was the final day of class time to work on this project.  Students were given all of the remaining class time to continue working on the final drafts of their Newton's Laws of Motion comic strips. The final drafts are due on Friday April 22nd.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began working with square roots.  Students continued working with identifying perfect squares as well as how to identify positive and negative square roots.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned section 7.1 Practice B worksheet which everyone finished in class.  Students were then assigned the activities from the workbook for section 7.2, to be due Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students continued identifying and comparing linear and nonlinear functions from tables and graphs.  After some teacher led instruction and an example or two, students were asked to complete the section 6.5 Practice A worksheet, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #49 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 6.5 Practice A worksheet is due Wednesday in class.
  
Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Students were then given all of the remaining class time to continue working on the rough drafts of their Newton's Laws of Motion comic strips.  Rough drafts of all three comics and the explanation page describing how they are demonstrating Newton's Law in their comic are due by Friday at the end of class.  The final products are due on Friday April 22nd.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began identifying and comparing linear and nonlinear functions from tables and graphs.  After some teacher led instruction and an example or two, students were asked to complete the activities #1-4 in the practice workbook, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:  Review HW #49 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 6.5 activities from the practice workbook are due Tuesday in class.
  
Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Students were introduced to the next project, Newton's Laws in Comic strips.  After an introduction to the project and a quick question and answer session, students were set free to get started on completing the front side of our planning worksheet.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning how to develop function rules for a given scenario or graph of a linear equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned workbook page 132 as well as section 6.3 Practice A.  Both assignments are due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period completing the friction lab we began in class on Monday.  We then transitioned back into the text book and began reading to learn about Newton's Third Law of Motion. 

Assignments:  Students should be completing the Sneaky Sneakers Friction Lab worksheet for class on Wednesday if they did not finish in the class time provided.

Assignments:  Review HW #47 is due Wednesday in class.  Workbook pages 106-107 are  due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning how to develop function rules for a given scenario or graph of a linear equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems to complete out of the textbook, page 261 #3-10, to be due Tuesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the unit on physics.  Students spent today's class period testing the friction between different types of sneakers and different types of surfaces.  Students were introduced to the lab at the beginning of class, before they split into groups of 4, and began testing the different sneakers in each group.
