Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right into chapter 5, and today we were learning to solve systems of linear equations by graphing.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 239-240 #3; 4; 6; 8; 10; 18; 28, to be due on Monday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Next, students were given class time to review the concepts and ask questions concerning any concept we learned and covered in chapter 4.  The chapter test will be on Thursday in class.

Assignments: Students can expect the chapter 4 test on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing to add rational numbers.  Today we were working with both fractions, mixed numbers as well as decimals.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned workbook page 32, to be due on Thursday in class.

Test corrections will be due on Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #22 is due on Friday in class.  Students were assigned workbook page 32, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students completed the section 1.1 worksheet before we graded our work in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Next, students reviewed arithmetic sequences.  Students were then working with piecewise functions, including how to read them, graph them and write a function from a graph.  After some teacher led instruction and a brief discussion, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 222 # 3-19 odds, 23; 27, to be due on Wednesday in class.

The chapter 4 test is scheduled for Thursday morning, November 29th in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Next, we continued our discussion on arithmetic sequences.  We practiced a few examples together, before students took a mini-POP quiz.  After some teacher led instruction and a brief discussion, students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook for section 4.7 on piecewise functions, pages 126-127 and page 129, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing the process of converting fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.  Students defined terminating decimals as well as repeating decimals and how to determine which is which. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #21 is due on Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were reading to learn about "What is Life?"  Students wrote some guiding reading questions into their notebooks, and as a class we read out loud section 1.1 on the characteristics of life, and what all living things need to survive.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Students were introduced to correlation and causation and we had a semi-group discussion on the relationship between correlation and causation.  Next, we began discussing arithmetic sequences.  After some teacher led instruction and a brief discussion, students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook, pages 121-123, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students completed their quiz on fraction operations from class on Friday.  As students were finishing up their quiz, they were completing a worksheet on proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #20 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students were given a block period to continue working on the "A Day in the Life" house project.  Students were assigned a partner from the opposite homeroom (Sheufelt/Olsen) and also assigned a country from around the world.  These assigned student groups, will be researching and putting together a poster product (among other final products) of what life is like for a 12/13 year old living in their assigned country.  Today, groups were producing auras using the HP Reveal application.

The Taku House will be having an Open House event tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon, November 20th. Parents and families are invited to come and sample ethnic foods and learn from our students what life may be like for children from around the world!

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 2 and rational numbers.  Students again were broken into pairs and they played a flashcard game, where each student flipped a card (either card could be a fraction or a decimal) and the students needed to determine which card was larger.

Science:  Today in science, students were given a block period to continue working on the "A Day in the Life" house project.  Students were assigned a partner from the opposite homeroom (Sheufelt/Olsen) and also assigned a country from around the world.  These assigned student groups, will be researching and putting together a poster product (among other final products) of what life is like for a 12/13 year old living in their assigned country.  Today, groups were matting their paragraphs and images, before beginning to put together their poster products.

7th Grade Math: Today in math, students began class with the Do Now, and then working on their Flashmaster activities or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 2 and rational numbers.  Students were broken into pairs and they played a flashcard game, where each student flipped a card (either card could be a fraction or a decimal) and the students needed to determine which card was larger.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Students reviewed being able to write a linear equation when only given two points on a line.  Next, students were introduced to identifying and writing linear functions that are parallel or perpendicular.  After some teacher led instruction on identifying parallel and perpendicular lines, students were  assigned some homework from the text book, page 191 #1-12; 15; 17, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students jumped right back into chapter 4.  Students were tasked with being able to write a linear equation when only given two points on a line.  After some teacher led instruction, of using the slope formula, putting that information into the point-slope formula and then simplifying into slope intercept form.  Students were then assigned the section 4.2 Practice B worksheet, to be due on Tuesday in class.
