Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 3.  Students continued reviewing transformations within the coordinate plane.  Students were working with horizontal and vertical stretches and shrinks.  There was lots of teacher led instruction and note-taking by students as Mr. Olsen was helping students key in on the clues that guide students when working with stretches and/or shrinks of graphs of linear equations.  Students were assigned problems #17, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 30 on page 152 of the textbook, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  Students celebrated Halloween in Mr. Olsen's math class today by working on a halloween packet of math activities.  The halloween math packet will be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students went on a nice sunny nature walk.  Mr. Olsen had students filling in a Nature Writing Prompt worksheet as we walked the Switzer Creek trail.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 3.  Students continued reviewing transformations within the coordinate plane.  Students were working on reflecting linear equations on a graph.  There was lots of teacher led instruction and note-taking by students as Mr. Olsen was helping students key in on the clues that guide students when working with reflections.  Students were assigned problems #13-16, 19, 21, 29, 31, 32, 34 on page 151 of the textbook, to be due on Friday in class.  Students can expect a quiz in class on Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  Students continued working with algebraic expressions today in class.  We reviewed working with identifying terms, like terms, as well as coefficients and constants before students were introduced to how to identify linear expressions as well as how to add and subtract expressions.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples of adding and or subtracting expressions, students were assigned practice workbook page 50.  The workbook page 50 will be due Friday in class.

Science:  Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped back into their community health investigative teams and continued our work on the community health alerts.  Today students were looking for the source of the community health issue in question.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 3.  Students were then working with how to describe the graph of the equation              y = mx + b.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were handed the section 3.5 Practice B worksheet, which will be due on Tuesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped into chapter 3.  Students then began working with graphing horizontal and vertical lines as well as graphing linear equations by determining the x, and y intercepts.  After some teacher led instruction and a few example problems, students were assigned practice workbook pages 77-78 #1-8 to be due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  Students were then introduced to chapter 3 and expressions and equations.  Mr. Olsen led students through several examples and introduced many new vocabulary words for students to begin familiarizing themselves with.

Science:  Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped back into the study of inquiry. Students continued our group discussion about how to identify questions that could be tested by a scientific investigation, and were then given the opportunity to work with a classmate as part of investigative team to determine a possible community health problem as part of a scenario set up by Mr. Olsen.  We will pick up with this activity on Friday in class.

Students continued our group discussion about how to identify questions that could be tested by a scientific investigation, and were then given the opportunity to read three different letters to the editor.  Each student was then given the opportunity to develop two different testable questions about one of the letters and describe an investigation or experiment that would help them find some evidence to support their questions.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  We then jumped back into chapter 2 and began discussing rational numbers.  Today students were learning or reviewing the rules for multiplying and dividing integers.  We then took those rules, and incorporated them into working (multiplying and dividing) rational numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from their textbooks, page 68 # 10-21; 22, 24, 26, 28, 30.  These problems will be due on Wednesday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students took the chapter 2 test.

Assignments:  Students were assigned workbook page 58 AND textbook page 101 #1-13 for class on Friday.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  We then jumped back into chapter 2 and began discussing rational numbers.  We took a detour today, as students needed some clarification on how to multiply decimals.  So, after some teacher led instruction and several examples of how to multiply decimals, students were assigned five multiplying decimal problems, to be due on Friday in class.

Students can expect a quiz on adding, subtracting and multiplying rational numbers in class on Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities.  We then jumped back into chapter 2 and began discussing rational numbers.  Students continued working through how to add and subtract rational numbers, including fractions and decimals. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were asked to complete activity 3 in the practice workbook, pages 34 & 35 while in class.  The homework is workbook page 36, to be due on Thursday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 2 and today were continuing to learn how to solve absolute value inequalities.  Students were reminded of how to solve absolute value equations and the rules associated with those equations, and how to apply those same rules to solving multiple step absolute value inequalities.  After we went over the homework from Monday evening, students were given class time to begin working on todays homework, the section 2.6 Practice A worksheet, to be due Wednesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 2 test on Thursday in class.

After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were asked to complete a worksheet adding and subtracting like fractions on one side and unlike fractions on the other side.  This worksheet is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped into their LEP groups and divided up responsibilities within their groups.  Two people were finalizing and typing up their plot location narratives, and the other group members were identifying the plants collected from the plots last week.
