8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period preparing for the upcoming chapter 2 test on Wednesday.  Students were given the option to complete the chapter review activity within the text book, or the chapter test activity also in the text book.  

Students can expect the chapter 2 TEST on Wednesday of this week. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #27 is due Wednesday in class.  The chapter 2 test is Tomorrow!

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with linear equations and the beginnings of chapter 4.  After some warm up problems, some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned pages 146-147 # 1, 2, 6-16 evens, 17, 18-26 evens, 27.  These problems will be due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into chemistry.  Students finished reading the section on how metals are organized and classified within the periodic table, and then students were given about 25 minutes of class time to complete the section 3.2 worksheet on Metals.  The 3.2 worksheet is due Wednesday in class if students did not complete it in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about dilations of shapes within the coordinate plane.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned page 48 of the practice workbook, to be due Tuesday in class. 

Students can expect the chapter 2 TEST on Wednesday of this week.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about dilations of shapes within the coordinate plane.  After a brief introduction to the concept, students were given class time to complete the activities on pages 45-47 of the practice workbook, to be due Friday in class.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #26 is due Friday in class.  Pages 46-47 of the practice workbook are due Friday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period learning about and working with the Hour of Code.  We went to the library and students were introduced to computer science coding and given the opportunity to play some games on the Hour of Code website to help re-enforce the concepts behind coding.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #26 is due Friday in class. Students were asked to complete page 44 of the practice workbook for Thursday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 4.  Students were introduced to the idea of linear equations and we began by completing some tables and working with literal equations.  Students were assigned pages 67 and 68 of the practice workbook for class on Thursday.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #26 is due Friday in class.  Workbook pages 67 and 68 are due Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students completed the reading out of the textbook concerning the organization of the elements on the periodic table.  Students were then assigned the section 3.1 worksheet on Organizing the Elements, to be due Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period jumping back into chapter 2 and continued learning about the perimeter and area of shapes are affected by a change in dimensions.  After some teacher lead instruction and several clarifying questions and example problems, students were handed a worksheet with section 2.6 A on one side and 2.6 B on the other side.  Students were asked to complete at least one side of the worksheet for class on Wednesday.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #25 is due Wednesday in class.  Section 2.6 practice A or B is due in class on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students took the chapter 3 Test.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students began the class period by completing our Structure of Matter worksheet we began in class on Monday.  Next students transitioned into a think, write pair share related to the periodic table.  After students wrote down some of their own ideas concerning a set of questions about the periodic table, they were given time to share their ideas with a class mate.  We finished class by reading the first few pages of section 3.1 on Organizing the Elements from the text book.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period jumping back into chapter 2 and continued learning about the perimeter and area of shapes are affected by a change in dimensions.  Students worked together in table groups on activities 3 & 4 in the practice workbook in the time provided in class.  Workbook pages 42 and 43 are due Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students began the review process for the chapter 3 test scheduled for Tuesday (tomorrow)!

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students began the class period by defining 15 key vocabulary words associated with the structure of matter.  We then continued by reviewing the key components of an atom, where the subatomic particles are located and how to draw an accurate model of an atom and of two atoms chemically bonding.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period jumping back into chapter 2 and continued learning about proportions by using ratios.  Many students needed more practice with ratios and proportions, so students were assigned problems from the text book.  Page 74-75 # 1-5; 7-13 odds; 14-20 evens, to be due Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students began learning about how to use angles to tell whether triangles are similar.  Students broke into partnered groups and began working on the activities in section 3.4 on pages 63-65 of the practice workbook, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period today by completing the final steps of the Gummy Bear Density Lab.  We then transitioned back into learning more about the atomic particles of atoms and what each particle is responsible for.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing their Gummy Bear Density Lab report if they did not complete it in the class time provided.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued working with the relationships between the interior and exterior of polygons.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were set free to finalize their eight perfect shapes, to be due Tuesday in class.  
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #23 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be completing their eight perfect shapes by Tuesday.  

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period reading to learn about the basics of matter.  Students were introduced to the ideas of atoms and molecules and how they are similar and different.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing the section 1.3 worksheet on Particles of Matter for class on Tuesday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued working with the relationships between the interior and exterior of polygons.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples of working with the algebraic formula used to calculate the measure of an exterior angle, students were assigned the next project, where they are identifying different polygons by side lengths and finding the perimeter of each given shape.
 
Assignments:  Review Homework #22 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be completing the identifying polygons worksheet that is due Wednesday in class. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period calculating the density of a 3 musketeers and a snickers candy bar.  Students worked together to find the mass of each bar, and then they calculated the volume of each.  Next, students calculated the density of each candy bar, before performing the water test to see if each bar was more dense then water. 

Assignments:  Students should be completing the "How sweet it is" density lab worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students continued learning about the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of triangles.  Students spent the class period working through activities 3 & 4 in the practice workbook, both being due Wednesday in class.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned back into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period discussing the difference between physical and chemical changes of substances.  Students build Venn diagrams to compare the two types of changes, as well as brainstorming as many examples of each type of change as possible individually.  

Assignments:  Students were asked to come to class on Tuesday with at least two more examples of physical and chemical changes.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent the class period creating a unique tessellation of their own.  Students spent todays class period creating the third and final unique tessellation, this time creating a rotating tessellation.  All in all, students have created three different tessellations, a translation, a reflection and today's final creation of a rotation.  

Assignments:  Students should be bringing in their own full page rotation tessellation to class on Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then jumped into chapter 3.  Today students were learning about parallel lines and transversals.  After a brief introduction and a few warmup problems, students were asked to complete Activities 1-3 on pages 51 through 53 of the practice workbook for class on Friday.  Students were also asked to compete the Fair Game Review activity on pages 49 and 50 of the workbook for class on Friday as well.  
 
Assignments:  Activities 1-3 on pages 51 through 53 of the practice workbook and the Fair Game Review activity on pages 49 and 50 of the workbook are due Friday in class.   

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the chemistry textbook.  Students spent the class period reading about characteristic properties of matter, including physical and chemical properties and how to identify them about a specific type of matter.  The section 1.1 worksheet on Describing Matter is due Friday in class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students spent today's class period by learning about tessellations.  Students continued working with the concept of tessellations and students spent the class period creating a unique tessellation of their own.  Students spent todays class period coloring their unique tessellation, before beginning a new shape template that will need to be rotated when creating the next tessellation.  

Assignments:  Review HW #19 is due Friday in class.  Students should be bringing in their own colored full page tessellation to class on Friday.

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the Do Now.  Students then spent the class period taking the chapter 2 test.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Students then transitioned into the chemistry textbook.  We had a class discussion about how reading a science textbook is different from reading a novel for pleasure.  We talked about the different tools available in a textbook that are usually not provided in a novel, such as a glossary, an index and tables and charts presenting information in different ways.  Students then worked their way through a Think, Write Pair Share activity concerning plants and chemicals.
