Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before students took the chapter 2 test.  


Assignments: Textbook page 101 and workbook page 58 (intro to chapter 3) will be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 2 and rational numbers.  We spent todays class period reviewing how to simplifying a fraction into simplest terms, as well as how to write a fraction from a given decimal.  We ended class converting fractions into decimals by dividing the numerators by the denominators.  Students are to complete the front side of the converting fractions to decimals worksheet we began in class (#11-16), to be due Friday in class.

Assignments: Review HW #10 is due Friday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  We then transitioned back into the jigsaw activity in order for students to complete the sharing process.  Next, students were learning about dependent and independent variables in science.  Students defined the vocabulary words, before working together to identify the dependent and independent variables in given situations.  

Assignments:  Students can be brainstorming ideas for their upcoming Dry Ice experiment/investigation we will be beginning on Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped back into chapter 2.  Today students continued our conversation on inequalities.  The rest of the class period was dedicated to reviewing for the chapter 2 test, scheduled for Thursday in class.  

Assignments: The chapter 2 test will be on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students transitioned into chapter 2 and rational numbers.  We spent todays class period reviewing how to write a fraction from a picture, and how to write equivalent fractions from a given rational number.

Assignments: Review HW #10 is due Friday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  We then transitioned back into the jigsaw activity we began on Tuesday in class, where students were researching given questions on Dry Ice and carbon dioxide in order to share the information they researched with their table mates.  Students had most of the class period to complete the jigsaw worksheet, before students observed a demonstration by Mr. Olsen called the Mystery of the Floating Bubbles.  Students wrote a hypothesis on what they thought would happen, before watching the demonstration, and then providing some explanations and conclusions of what they saw.

Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today, students were learning about investigable questions in science and how to identify them.  After some vocabulary review, students broke back into pairs and worked through the remaining list of 14 questions, attempting to sort the questions into categories, including experiments, systematic observations or research based questions.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students reviewed the section 1.3 worksheet we did as homework.  Next, students reviewed the rules for multiplying integers, before students were introduced to dividing integers.  Students learned that dividing integers has the same rules as multiplying integers. After a bit of teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned workbook page 22, to be due on Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped back into chapter 2.  Students reviewed the rules for solving inequalities using multiplication and division, continued students began solving inequalities involving multiple steps.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples problems, students were given class time to begin working on the workbook activities for section 2.5 on compound inequalities.  Workbook pages 48-51 will be due on Thursday in class.


Assignments: Students were assigned some workbook pages, p. 48-51 that will be due on Thursday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students reviewed the section 1.3 worksheet we did as homework.  Next, students reviewed the rules for multiplying integers, before students were introduced to multiplying integers.  After some teacher led instruction on how to work with exponents, and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 26 & 27 #1-45, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today was take 2 on yesterday's lab.  Students were back in their table groups, and students were exploring dry ice in a soap solution when using different temperatures of water.  Groups preformed the experiment, and made some qualitative  and quantitative observations as they observed the phenomena.  Students ended class by attempting to explain what they witnessed as well as providing some conclusions and explanations.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped into chapter 2.  Students reviewed the rules for solving inequalities using addition and/or subtraction.  Students then went over the rules for solving inequalities through multiplication or division.  After some teacher led instruction and a few examples, students were given class time to work through the section 2.3 Practice B worksheet.  

The chapter 1 re-test is scheduled for Tuesday for any students who feel the need to improve their chapter 1 test results.  

Assignments: Students who are re-testing on chapter 1 should be preparing their original chapter 1 tests corrections to turn in on Tuesday.  

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students reviewed the activities we did as homework.  Next, students continued subtracting integers.  Students reviewed the rules for subtracting integers (in order to subtract integers, you add the opposite of the second term), before they were given class time to work on the section 1.3 Practice B worksheet.  

Assignments: Review HW #7 is due on Wednesday in class.  Students were assigned the section 1.3 practice B worksheet, odds only, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today students were learning about systematic observations and variables in the scientific process.  Students copied some key vocabulary and took some notes on how scientists develop questions to test, and the systematic observation process then used to find some answers to a specific question.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped into chapter 2.  Students reviewed how to write inequalities as well as how to write an inequality out of words. Students were then introduced to the rules of how to solve inequalities when adding and subtracting as well as what to do when solving with multiplying and/or dividing with a negative value.  Students were then assigned workbook pages 36 & 37, to be due on Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped into chapter 2.  Students were introduced to chapter 2 by reviewing what an inequality represents, as well as converting word phrases into inequality statements.  Students were given class time to begin working through the activities associated with section 2.1 and the assignment for Wednesday evening is practice workbook pages 28-32 to be due on Thursday in class.

Next, class was interrupted by our administrators where all classes were asked to stop and talk about our school's A.L.I.C.E. procedures

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped back into chapter 1.  Today, students reviewed the process of rewriting formulas to solve for a missing variable, before students were given the remaining class time to begin reviewing for the chapter 1 test on Tuesday.  

Assignments: The chapter 1 test will be on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students reviewed the activities we did as homework.  Next, students continued adding integers.  We reviewed the differences between whole numbers and integers and then students reviewed the song (sung to the tune of Row, Row, Row your boat) that Mr. Olsen introduced to students last week.  Then, students began working on the activities in section 1.1 on adding integers.  

Assignments: Students were asked to complete practice workbook page 7 (activities 1-3) for class on Tuesday.  Review HW #5 is due on Wednesday.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today students were reviewing what is matter and what is not matter.  We also discussed how matter behaves as energy is added.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we jumped back into chapter 1.  Today, students continued rewriting formulas and solving for different pieces of a formula in algebric form. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some problems from the textbook, pages 40 & 41 # 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 17, 20, and 32.  These problems will be due on Friday in class. 

The chapter 1 test is scheduled for Tuesday of next week (9/12).

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today students developed some classroom/LAB norms and rules for everyone to follow as we begin working in lab settings during class.  We then began the Dry Ice Unit.  Students worked in table groups and participated in a lab entitled "Seeing if for the first time."

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems, before we went over the quiz students took in class on Friday.  Many students feel we need some review work on solving equations, so students were handed a four page review packet and given class time to get started working on the problems in class.  Page one of the packet (#1-37) are due on Wednesday in class.


Assignments: Students were assigned the first page (#1-37) of the review packet handed out in class.  

7th Grade Math: Students began class with a Do Now and several Flashmaster activities, before students jumped into the chapter 1, section 1 activities from the practice workbook. Students were given class time to begin working on the section 1.1 practice activities, and workbook pages 3-5 are due on Wednesday in class.


Assignments: Review Homework #4 is due on Thursday in class.  Workbook pages 3-5 are due Wednesday in class.



Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then continued our discussion on observations in science.  Today students review the definitions of observation, inference, qualitative and quantitative observations.  Next, students were introduced to the steps of the scientific method.  We then began practicing descriptive writing and making observations using descriptive sentences referencing our five senses.  

Assignments:  Students were asked to pick a common object at home and write up a object description of that object using descriptive observations that do not give the object away, yet challenge an observer to name that item.  This assignment is due Wednesday in class.
