8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped back in to section 3.6 and solving multi-step inequalities. Students did the even problems on the 3.6 worksheet yesterday, and today we completed the odds during class.

Assignments: Review HW #20 is due on Wednesday. Finish the 3.6 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided (odds).

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters before having a class-wide discussion concerning the quality of work handed in from the Hemlock Cone Activity. We then began chapter 4 and number patterns and fractions. Today we introduced prime factorization, took some notes, and did an example problem together.

Assignments: Review Homework #21 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science students continued working and learning about the skeletal system. Students took the first twenty five minutes of class to complete a reading and answer some associated questions, before transitioning into an activity where students were given fifteen bones found in the human body and asked to use a dictionary to define each and locate them in the body.

Assignments: Finish the Skeletal System worksheet if they did not complete it in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students reviewed the properties and associated rules for each property for solving inequalities using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students were then introduced to section 3.6 and solving multi-step inequalities. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were handed the 3.6 worksheet to practice their skills.

Assignments: Review HW #20 is due on Wednesday. Finish the 3.6 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided (evens only).

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with jumping back into our Hemlock Cone Activity. In this activity, students went outside and collected at least ten hemlock cones. They then weighed each individual cone and created a data set that in turn they found the mean, median, mode and range of. They then graphed their weights and produced a poster to display their results.

Assignments: Review Homework #21 is due Wednesday. Finish up with their hemlock cone poster activity if they did not finish in the class time provided.

Science: Today in science students were introduced to the skeletal system. We began with a class wide discussion on the five major functions of the skeletal system and continued the discussion on the difference between weight bearing and non-weight bearing activities. We ended class talking about the four major joints associated with the skeletal system.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped back into section 3.5 on solving inequalities using multiplication or division. We graded the 3.5 worksheet as a class, answered a few questions from the students and then Mr. Olsen handed out another worksheet for kids to practice their skills of solving inequalities using multiplication or division, and graphing their results on a number line.

Assignments: Review HW #19 is due on Wednesday. Finish the inequality worksheet if they did not finish in class.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters activity. Next, students were handed back their chapter 3 tests, and asked to make corrections of their mistakes. Once students had finished with their test corrections, they were able to jump back into our Hemlock Cone Activity.

Assignments: Review Homework #20 is due Wednesday. Finish up with their chapter 3 test corrections if they did not finish up in class.

Science: Today in science students had all of the class period to complete the vitamin and mineral work packet they began yesterday in class.

Assignments: Finish up the packet for homework if they did not finish in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped back into section 3.5 on solving inequalities using multiplication or division. After a quick review of the rules for using these properties, and several teacher led example problems, students were handed a worksheet to practice their new found skills.

Assignments: Review HW #19 is due on Wednesday. Finish the section 3.5 worksheet if they did not finish in class.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters activity. We then started talking of ways to build our own data sets. After spending about ten minutes discussing ways to build data sets, we all went outside and collected hemlock cones that we will weigh and create a data set with.

Assignments: Review Homework #20 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science students began class with a discussion about the importance of white blood cells to the health of the human body. We talked about why it may be important to make healthy lifestyle choices and a big choice we all have the ability to have a say in is what we eat, and why that is important. We have started talking about the importance of vitamins and minerals, and today and tomorrow's activity revolves around learning about the most important vitamins and minerals to the human body.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped into section 3.4 and solving inequalities using addition and subtraction. We did a few different example problems to begin with, before students were handed a worksheet and given about 25 minutes of class time to work with Mr. Olsen available to answer any questions and offer assistance.

Assignments: Review HW#18 is due on Friday. Finish the section 3.4 worksheet if they did not finish in class.

7th Grade Math: Today students took the chapter 3 test.

Assignments: Review Homework #19 is due Friday.

Science: Today in science students began class with a discussion about the difference between red blood cells and white blood cells. Students were then handed a picture of a bacteria, virus or white blood cell that was from under a microscope, and blown up to have a better view of. Tomorrow, we will have a guest speaker come in and address the class about the importance of white blood cells and a healthy lifestyle.

Assignments: Finish their drawings from class to be used tomorrow with our guest speaker, Ms. Bain, a registered nurse.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped into section 3.4 and solving inequalities using addition and subtraction. First we needed to define an inequality, before talking about the rules for solving inequalities. After discussing these rules students tried several example problems.

Assignments: Review HW#18 is due on Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. Students were then given the rest of the class period to organize their math notebooks and begin the review process to prepare for their chapter 3 test tomorrow.

Assignments: Review Homework #19 is due Friday.

Science: Today in science students were given the first twenty minutes of class to review and study for the test they took on the health of the cardiovascular system.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped back into section 3.3 and solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. Students were given ample class time with Mr. Olsen available to help as needed to complete the 3.3 worksheet. Once students were done with the worksheet, some extra problems from the textbook were assigned to reaffirm these new found skills.

Assignments: Please complete p. 805 #18-26. Finish the section 3.3 WS for class on Wednesday. Review HW#17 is due on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then jumped back into chapter 3 and reviewed histograms, before reviewing all five different data displays we have covered in chapter 3. We started talking about being able to apply the appropriate data display to a given data set. This is covered in the section 3.6 worksheet.

Assignments: Finish the 3.6 worksheet for class tomorrow. Review Homework #18 is due Wednesday.

Science: Today in science we had a class wide review activity. Students participated in a Jeopardy style game where we grouped up into four different groups and answered questions the Mr. Olsen read to the class.

Assignments: Students in science have a test tomorrow (Wednesday) on the Cardiovascular System.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students jumped back into section 3.3 and solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. After some instruction and teacher led examples, students were handed a worksheet to practice their skills.

Assignments: Finish the section 3.3 WS for class on Tuesday. Review HW#17 is due on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then jumped back into chapter 3 and reviewed histograms, before reviewing all five different data displays we have covered in chapter 3.

Assignments: Review Homework #18 is due Wednesday.

Science: Students began class engaging in a class wide discussion regarding the cardiovascular system. Students then took the remaining time in class to complete a study guide worksheet to aid them in their studies for the test on the cardiovascular system on Wednesday of this week.

Assignments: Finish any missing work from chapter 4 of the Human Biology and Heath text book we have been working with.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students took a quiz on the first three sections of chapter 3.

Assignments: In the students at home text books, students are to complete problems #11-22 on page 134 for Monday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. Students then took their quiz on the first three sections of chapter 3.

Assignments: For Monday students are to complete problems from their at home text books. Page 141 #3-9 (all) and page 142 #18 (a,b,c only).

Science: Students began class with a closer look at the cardiovascular system. Students had three tasks to complete in class today. One included a reading and a set of questions to be answered. The second activity involved stethoscopes. Students had to follow the directions provided on a worksheet and complete the worksheet as they went. Each student was to listen to the heartbeat of two of their classmates for one minute each. The third activity was a coloring worksheet that re-enforces the concepts of the circulatory system from last week.

Assignments: Finish any of the three worksheets that the students did not complete in the class time allotted.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students graded the section 3.2 worksheet. We then transitioned into section 3.3 and solving equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. We spent the rest of the hour going over the rules and doing several practice problems as a class. Students were asked to solve an equation on their own as an exit ticket.

Assignments: Review Homework #16 is due first thing Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then moved into section 3.5 in the text book and began covering histograms. We learned how to build frequency tables, and how to then build the histogram by graphing the frequency column of the frequency table. Students were given about 20 minutes of class time to begin the worksheet and if students did not finish the worksheet in class, it is homework.

Assignments: Review Homework #17 is due on Wednesday. Finish section 3.5 if students did not finish during class.

Science: Students began class with a closer look at the different types of blood within the body. Today we completed a lab activity where students were handed a set of procedures and two separate data tables to fill out while following the same procedures during each experiment. There were several questions the students are to answer at the end of the activity.

Assignments: Finish the questions at the end of the lab report if they did not finish in class.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before students were given the rest of the hour to continue working on using the distributive property to solve equations. Students were to finish the 3.2 worksheet if they had not done so over the weekend. Once students were finished with the worksheet, extra practice problems were assigned out of the text book, pp. 128 # 23-31 odds; and #33-36 all.

Assignments: Review Homework #16 is due first thing Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then moved back into section 3.4 and continued working with box and whisker plots. Students were allowed class time to finish the 3.4 worksheet with Mr. Olsen available to give assistance when needed on an individual basis. Once the worksheets were completed, extra practice problems from the text book were assigned. pp. 135 #1-9 all.

Assignments: Review Homework #17 is due on Wednesday.

Science: Students began class with a closer look at the different types of blood within the body. Students were asked to read section 4.3 from the Human Biology and Health text book and answer the review questions, in complete sentences, at the end of the section.

Assignments: Finish reading section 4.3 from the Human Biology and Health text book and answer the questions on page 118 # 1-4.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before we graded the section 3.1 worksheet as a class. Next, section 3.2 was introduced to the class. This section deals with introducing the distributive property into solving equations. After some serious teacher led instruction, students practiced many different example problems. Friday we will work on the worksheet.

Assignments: Review Homework #15 is due first thing Friday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then transitioned into section 3.4 on box and whisker plots. We spent the majority of the hour going over the new vocabulary words as well as how to build and interpet the box and whisker plots themselves. Tomorrow we will work on the worksheet together.

Assignments: Review Homework #16 is due on Friday.

Science: Students began class with a closer look at the different types of blood vessels within the body. Students were handed a worksheet to read over and pick out certain pieces of information to answer questions on the back side of the worksheet. We then transitioned into a lab activity where we defined the terms pulse and heart rate. Students then have to follow the procedures on the lab worksheet and take their pulse after several different scenarios.

Assignments: The lab Heart Beat, Health Beat worksheet and associated bar graph is due tomorrow in class.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before transitioning back into section 3.1 on solving two step equations. After spending most of class yesterday going over the rules and practicing example problems, today was all about the students working on the worksheet while in class to ask questions as they arose. The section 3.1 worksheet will be due first thing tomorrow.

Assignments: 1. Review Homework #15 is due first thing Friday. Finish the 3.1 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time allotted.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then transitioned into section 3.3 in the text book on stem-and-leaf plots. Today was all about the worksheet. After a few example problems, students were handed the 3.3 worksheet and they were given 25 minutes of class time to work with Mr. Olsen available to give assistance as needed.

Assignments: Review Homework #16 is due on Friday. Finish section 3.3 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time allotted.

Science: Students began class with a class wide discussion on the circulatory system and the main functions of the heart. After watching a brief video introducing the the main components of the circulatory system, students were given their tasks for the day. Students who needed extra time to finish their Wanted Posters were given time to do so, and all students were handed a worksheet to read and fill out regarding the heart and its main functions.

Assignments: The worksheet The Body's Transportation System is due first thing tomorrow (Thursday) in class.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before transitioning back into our our textbook and we introduced chapter 3. Today was all about solving two-step equations. Mr. Olsen reminded students that all of the rules for integers that we have learned in chapters 1 & 2 are still in play here in chapter 3. After lots of instruction and examples, Mr. Olsen sent students on their way with five problems to solve for tomorrows class.

Assignments: 1. Review Homework #14 is due first thing Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then transitioned into section 3.3 in the text book on stem-and-leaf plots. Today we introduced the subject to the students and did a few practice problems. Not having enough time at the end of class to hand out a worksheet, students simply practiced examples provided by Mr. Olsen and tomorrow we will do the 3.3 worksheet.

Assignments: Review Homework #15 is due on Wednesday.

Science: Students were given another work day to continue researching their assigned illness or disease. Today was the final in class work day and tomorrow students are expected to hand in their final drafts of the Wanted Posters.

Assignments: Mr. Olsen encouraged all students to continue working on their posters at home this evening, as the posters are due on Wednesday at the end of class.

8th Grade Math: Students began class with the problem of the day before transitioning back into our poster project. Today was the final day for students to get their assigned poster completed. If they did not finish in class they will have to complete the assignment on their own time.

7th Grade Math: Today students began class with their flashmasters. We then transitioned into section 3.2 in the text book on bar graphs and line graphs. Today we talked about and practiced creating line graphs.

Assignments: Review Homework #15 is due on Wednesday. Section 3.2 worksheet is due on Tuesday if they did not finish in class.

Science: Students were given another work day to continue researching their assigned illness or disease. I encouraged students to begin the process of putting together their Wanted posters in class in order to utilize having Mr. Olsen available to answer any questions that may arise.

Assignments: Mr. Olsen encouraged all students to continue working on their posters at home this evening, as Tuesday will be the final in class work day for this project.
