8th Grade Math:    Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students
began on a group poster project.  Students were split into four different groups and assigned sections from chapters 1 and 2, and asked to take the key concepts, vocabulary and examples of problems to build a poster to hang in the classroom to help students remember key concepts.
Assignments:
Review Homework #19 is due Wednesday.
7th Grade Math:  Today in math students
began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into
chapter 3 and began talking about bar graphs.  Mr. Olsen led students through a few examples of how to draw a bar graph based on the data presented.  By the end of class, we developed a detailed procedure list of how to build a bar graph.
Assignments:   Review Homework #19 is due Wednesday.
Science:
Today in science, students continued talking about the importance of
learning vocabulary.  As we transition into the chemistry unit, it is
important to introduce the students to the new vocabulary they will
encounter, and we are working on some scientific root words, including
prefixes and suffixes, that the students will come across throughout the
unit.  Today students continued learning their assigned vocabulary words through a review activity that Mr. Olsen has put together.  Wednesday will be a test on these vocab words.
Assignments:  Students
should be reviewing their flashcards for the assigned vocabulary words.
FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/31,
the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will
no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit
for the work they do, when it is due.
