8th Grade Math:    Today in 
math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students 
jumped back into chapter four.  We reviewed the rules for dealing with 
exponents, before students were introduced to section 4.6 and negative and zero exponents.  We spent the hour going over examples and applying the rules to different situations.  
Assignments:    Review
 homework #4 is due on Wednesday.  
7th Grade Math:  Today in math students 
began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back 
into chapter four.  We reviewed GCFs and LCMs, as well as equivalent fractions before students were introduced to comparing and ordering fractions.  The least common denominator, or the LCD, was introduced to students and we spent the remaining time comparing fractions together as a class, by finding the LCD for each fraction we were comparing.  
Assignments:   Review
 homework #4 is due on Wednesday.  
Science: 
 Today in science, students continued working with the periodic table.  
Today, students began class with a Do Now, before reviewing ionic and covalent bonds.  Next, students began learning how to name simple compounds.  Students were given the rules for how to name a compound and then given about 25 minutes of class time to complete a worksheet.  
Assignments:     None.  
FYI:  Parents!  Starting on Monday (10/31, 
the first day of the second quarter), teachers in the Aurora house will 
no longer accept late work from our students.  Students will get credit 
for the work they do, when it is due.
