math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
were introduced to chapter 7 on fractions and percents. Today students were introduced to using proportions to solve percent problems.

into chapter 5. Today we began talking about converting customary
units. After some teacher led instruction, students completed several example problems given to them by Mr. Olsen.

did some reading out of the Astronomy textbook. Students read section one from chapter one, Earth in Space, and answered several discussion questions at the end of the section. We then had a group discussion to wrap up class.
Assignments: Students were asked to complete the section 1.1 worksheet on the Earth in Space for homework this evening. It is due on Thursday.

8th Grade Math: Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
were introduced to chapter 7 on fractions and percents. Students began using fractions to find the percent of a number. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the 7.1 worksheet.
Assignments: Review homework #12 is due Wednesday. Students should be completing the 7.1 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.

After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students did some problems out of the book, and once they were checked off by the teacher, they were able to start their homework, the 5.5 worksheet.

8th Grade Math: Today in
math students began class with the problem of the day. Next, students
jumped back into chapter 5 and today we reviewed how to
clear fractions and decimals when solving equations and inequalities. Students seemed to struggle with the homework, so we spent the day working on our homework that wasn't completed in class together.
Assignments: Review homework #11 is due Friday. Students should be completing the 5.7 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters. Next, we graded the chapter 4 test together as a class. Students then were given the class period make corrections on their errors made on the test. Students are able to gain a half point back for each correction made.
Assignments: Review homework #11 is due Friday. Students should be completing their chapter 4 test corrections for class on Friday.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Next, students began learning about ancient models of the world. Students participated in a peer editing activity designed to help them make corrections and revisions of their creation myths developed yesterday. reciprocals, before transitioning into section seven on using the LCD to solve equations and inequalities. Students learned the definition of the multiplicative inverse and how to apply it in solving equations. After some teacher led instruction, students were assigned the 5.6 worksheet and given 25 minutes of class time to complete the assignment.

Next, students were introduced multiplying fractions. Students were given the rules for multiplying fractions, (the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators) as well as being introduced to the concept of cross cancelling as a method of simplifying fractions. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the 5.3 worksheet and given about 20 minutes of class time to work on the assignment.
