7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into the textbook, and began working with comparing and ordering integers. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, making sure to hit on the difference between opposites and absolute value, students were assigned the 1.4 worksheet as homework. Assignments: The section 1.4 worksheet is due Tuesday in class. 8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we picked back up on our discussion on strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems. The most commonly used strategies for addition include breaking apart and compensation. For subtraction, students learned about breaking apart or separating and borrowing.
Assignments: None. Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now. Next, we jumped into a discussion on observation, including the importance of observation in science. Today's activity involved students picking an object from within the classroom and writing descriptive clues about that object in order for their classmates to guess what that object was. We practiced this activity together as a class, before students were asked to try one themselves. Assignments: Students should be coming to class with an object they selected at home and a descriptive narration of the said object for classmates to try and figure out in class on Tuesday.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students were given a line graph that they glued into the inside cover of their math notebooks, where they will periodically update their math grade from the grades Mr. Olsen posts within the classroom (by student number). We then jumped into the textbook. Today students were introduced to (or reviewed) variables and variable expressions. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 1.1 worksheet as homework.
Assignments: The section 1.1 worksheet is due Wednesday in class. Review Homework #3 is due Thursday. 8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Next, we picked back up on our discussion on place value. We reviewed the place value of whole numbers, before jumping into decimal place values. We talked about the differences between the names of place value of whole numbers and place values of decimal numbers.
Assignments: None. Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now. Next, students were given the remaining time in class to begin continue working on the rough drafts of the Scientific Summer project. Today, students should have been focusing on the second paragraph, where they are linking their chosen summer activity to a branch of science, and they attempting to explain how science is used during that activity. The project will be due on Friday September 6th. Assignments: Students should be coming to class on Wednesday with both paragraphs of the Scientific Summer assignment completed. Students should also be coming to class with a picture of the activity they have chosen to write about.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students took a quiz on the material we covered in class this week, Cornell notes and ancient number systems. Students also turned in their homework assignments, Review homework #2, and 10 problems from the textbook on concepts each student felt they needed to practice, based on their own results from the pre-course assessment.
Assignments: None.
8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students jumped back into our discussion on place value. Students turned in their Review Homework #2 assignment before we continued identifying the place value of certain digits in a number. Students were then handed a place value worksheet and were asked to complete the work by Tuesday of next week.
Assignments: The place value worksheet handed out in class today will be due on Tuesday morning in class.
Science: Today in science students began class with the Do Now. Next, students were given the remaining time in class to begin working on the rough draft of their Scientific Summer project, that was introduced to the students on Thursday. The project will be due on Friday September 6th.
Assignments: Students should be coming to class on Tuesday with at least paragraph one of the Scientific Summer assignment completed. Students will have time in class on Tuesday to work on paragraph two.

- 1 package binder dividers
- 1 package of graphing paper
- 1 spiral bound notebook for science journal writing
- 1 box of kleenex
- Hand Sanitizer
- 1 box of pencils/1 box of pens
- Glue sticks
- Flash drive
OTHER THINGS WE COULD USE FOR CLASS:
* disinfectant wipes
* Colored pencils and/or Markers
* Extra spiral Notebooks and Binders
* Extra rolls of Scotch Tape
* Correction pens or Whiteout
* Colored art paper 7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, students went to the library to check out their at home text books for the school year. They will be expected to return the book back to the library at the end of the school year. This textbook is expected to stay at home, so students will not need to haul a textbook back and forth from school. We then transitioned back into grading and reviewing the pre course tests. Assignments: Review Homework #1 was handed out to students today and will be due first thing Wednesday morning in class. 8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Next, we jumped back into our discussion on the elements of design, or C.R.A.P. (contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity). After briefly reviewing what each element means and showing and finding examples of each from within the classroom, students were released to find their own examples of each element of design from magazines. Students will have until the beginning of class on Thursday to complete the CRAP Activity Practice. Assignments: Students can be finding examples of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity in newspapers, magazines, or on the internet to contribute to their CRAP practice activity. Students should also be looking for images that represent Physical Science to bring into class by Thursday afternoon.
