8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students completed the chapter 4 math test.   Students were then asked to complete a Chapter 4 Learning Reflection that will be due on Thursday in class. 

Assignments:  Review HW #40 is due Friday in class.  The chapter 4 learning reflection is due Thursday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped into chapter 5 on adding and subtracting like and unlike fractions.  Students were introduced to a new method of adding or subtracting unlike fractions with something called the upside down picnic table method.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems out of the textbook in order to practice this new method.  Page 222 #15-28 are due Thursday in class. 

Assignments:   Review HW #40 is due Friday in class.  The book work from page 222 #15-28 are due Thursday in class.    

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning and reading about symmetry in nature, specifically in animals.  Students defined some key vocabulary before we read about Sponges & Cnidarians from the Animals textbook.  We then watched a video to help reinforce the concepts we just read about.  Students then completed a review worksheet to reinforce the concepts we read about in class.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing the Sponges and Cnidarians worksheet if they did not complete in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students took the chapter 4 math test.  


Assignments:  Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped into chapter 5 on adding and subtracting like and unlike fractions.  Students were introduced to the rules for working with like and unlike fractions, and after a bit of teacher instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 5.1 worksheet as homework, to be due Wednesday in class.  

Assignments:   Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 5.1 worksheet is due Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students participated in a chapter 4 review activity in order to prepare for the Chapter 4 Test on Tuesday. 

Assignments:  Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students participated in a math game called "I have, who has."  It is designed to help students work on identifying fractions based on models in a fast, game-like setting.  

Assignments:   Review HW #39 is due Wednesday in class.      

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a classification activity, where students were introduced to several new vocabulary words and they had to classify organisms based on key criteria.  

Assignments:  None.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Next, students continued working with and writing numbers in scientific notation, product form and standard form.  After grading homework and answering a few questions, students went to the computer lab and were given the opportunity to explore some identified math websites and games, approved by Mr. Olsen.  Students were asked to evaluate the site or game they visited in order to better understand what was being asked of them.  

Students can expect a quiz on the the final three sections of chapter 4 on Friday in class.  The chapter 4 test is scheduled for Tuesday of next week.

Assignments:  Review HW #38 is due Friday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students took the chapter 4 math test.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into learning about "what is an animal?"  Students participated in a class discussion to begin class, to identify what we thought was an animal, before we moved into the text and began reading about the characteristics that define what an animal really is.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students took and graded a genetics quiz.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students began the review process for the chapter 4 test, scheduled for Thursday of this week.  After grading the homework from last night, students went to the computer lab to practice math concepts by using some math websites offered by Mr. Olsen.

Assignments:   Review HW #37 is due Friday in class. Students can expect the chapter 4 test on Thursday.      

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began working on a self evaluation for their Bikini Bottom Genetics Project.  Students then shared their BBG family with a classmate in the opposite grade level than themselves and completed a worksheet by finding the information asked of them on their partners poster.  

Assignments:  Students should be completing their self evaluation by class time on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Next, students continued working with mixed numbers, and improper fractions.  Students reviewed how to convert a mixed number into an improper fraction and vise versa.  Students were then introduced to converting fractions and mixed numbers into decimals and vise versa.  After some teacher led instruction and several questions and examples, students were assigned the section 4.7 worksheet (odds) as homework to be due Tuesday in class. 

Assignments:   Review HW #37 is due Friday in class. The section 4.7 worksheet (odds) is due Tuesday in class.     

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students jumped back into completing their Bikini Bottom Genetics Projects.  Today was the final work day and it was due by the end of class. 

Assignments:  Students were handed a packet of work to complete related to the world of Bikini Bottom, that will be due Tuesday in class.
