Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began by reviewing how to add and subtract polynomials.  Students were then introduced to multiplying binomials and trinomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students learned about the FOIL method before being assigned some homework from the textbook, page 369 #2; 3-17 odds; 28; 34; 40 to be due on Thursday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 369 #2; 3-17 odds; 28; 34; 40 to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and solving proportions.  After some teacher led instruction including how to solve proportions with multiplication or with the cross products property, students were handed a couple of pages of work on Ratios and Rates and given about 30 minutes of class time to complete the work.  This packet will be due on Thursday in class.

Assignments: Review Homework #41 is due on Friday in class.  The Ratios and Rates packet will be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Mr. Sheufelt's homebase class took a field trip to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.  Mr. Olsen's class spent an afternoon block with Mr. Sheufelt and social studies.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students jumped into chapter 7 and began by reviewing how to find the degree, classifying monomials, binomials, and polynomials.  Today, students were introduced to adding and subtracting polynomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 362/363 #22; 23-37odds; 36; 44; 52, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and solving proportions.  After some teacher led instruction including how to solve proportions with multiplication or with the cross products property, students broke back into pairs and played a card game designed to help them understand more about proportions and how they work.

Assignments: Review Homework #40 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students defined some key vocabulary words associated with atoms.  Next, we completed our reading to learn out of the text book on how the Periodic Table is organized.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, students spent the class period working on a chapter 6 review activity in order to prepare for the chapter 6 test scheduled for Friday in class.

Assignments:  The chapter 6 test will be on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and solving proportions.  After some teacher led instruction including how to solve proportions with multiplication or with the cross products property, students were given class time to work on a solving proportions worksheet in class.

Assignments: Review Homework #39 is due on Friday in class.  The solving proportions is due in class on Friday in class if students did not finish in the class time provided.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students completed a Think, Write Pair Share worksheet, where students answered some questions that prompted them to share their ideas in writing and than share those ideas with a class mate.  Next, students read an article related to the periodic table and than answered another set of questions based on their readings.  They then shared those thoughts with a classmate.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, we jumped back into chapter 6 and section 6 on identifying geometric sequences.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were then given class time to begin working on the assigned homework from the text book, pages 336-337 #3-13 odds; 15-17; 19-29 odds; 30; 37; 40, to be due on Thursday in class.

The chapter 6 test is scheduled for this week on Friday.

Assignments: Review Homework #39 is due on Friday in class.  The writing proportions is due in class on Thursday in class if students did not finish in the class time provided.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students spent some time in class learning about atoms and molecules.  We spent the class period working through a packet about matter and how sub-atomic particles are distributed within an atom.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, we jumped back into chapter 6 and section 6 on identifying geometric sequences.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, students were then given class time to begin working on the exploration activities in the practice workbook, pages 193 and 194. These pages, as well as page 196 #1-9, will be due on Wednesday in class.

The chapter 6 test is scheduled for this week on Friday.

Assignments:  Students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook, pages 193-196 (p. 196 #1-9), to be due on Wednesday in class.


7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and working with ratios, rates and unit rates.  Today, students equivalent proportions and how to find and write them.  After some teacher led instruction, students were then given class time to begin working on activities 1 & 2 in the practice workbook, page 95.  This assignment will be due on Wednesday in class.

Assignments: Review Homework #38 is due on Wednesday in class.  Practice workbook page 95 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students turned in their final Atomic Model Timelines. We spent the rest of the afternoon blocking and completing the masks we have been working on in the Taku House.

Algebra I: Students began class with the Do Now and the Problem of the Day.  Next, we jumped back into chapter 6 and section 5 on solving exponential equations with like and unlike bases.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the text book, p. 329 #3-12; 13-17 odds; and 38-40, to be due on Tuesday in class.

The chapter 6 test is scheduled for this week, either Thursday or Friday.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now and the problem of the day.  Next, students jumped back into chapter 5 and working with ratios, rates and unit rates.  Today, students reviewed the coordinate plane. Students took a quick quiz/check in on what they remember of the coordinate plane and how to plot points, before we reviewed all of the information together as a class.  

Assignments: Review Homework #38 is due on Wednesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students were given class time to finalize their Atomic Model Timelines.
 
Assignments:  Students should be coming to class on Tuesday with their Timelines done and ready to turn in.
