8th Grade Math: Today in math students were introduced to the percent of change equation. Mr. Olsen led students through several examples, and was able to offer students one on one help when needed.
Assignments: Students NEED to return their at home textbook assigned to them at the beginning of the school year TOMORROW (Friday)!!!
7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Students finished up the surface area and volume calculations and a few students began the assigned reading and associated questions before the end of the hour.

Science: Today in science, students read up to six different news articles and completed a Venn Diagram answering the question "Has human activity caused the world's climate to change over the past 100 years?" Students are to pull five facts supporting the above question and five facts that don't support the question. And finally four facts where both sides agree.
Assignments: Students are to complete the venn diagram at home this evening if they do not finish in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students were introduced to the counting principle and tree diagrams. Mr. Olsen led students through several examples and provided students with the opportunity to work through an example or two themselves before handing out the 6.8 worksheet and giving students 25 minutes of class time to work.
Assignments: Complete the section 6.8 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Students finished up the surface area and volume calculations and a few students began the assigned reading and associated questions before the end of the hour.
Assignments: Students were handed a reading about chickadees and have been asked to read through the information and answer the associated questions for Thursday.
Science: Today in science, students got together in their groups and organized their thoughts before each group got up in front of the class and presented their strategies they chose in the Stabilization Wedge Game. We then ended class with a video rebuttal to "An Inconvenient Truth" in order to give students a taste of both sides of the climate change arguement.

Students came up with and agreed upon seven different strategies that each will save one billion tons of carbon emissions per year, in order to save a total of seven billion tons of carbon emissions over the course of a year. Each group then presented their findings to their classmates, and explained why they chose the strategies they did choose and the challenges associated with each.

8th Grade Math: Today was the final working day in math on their isometric dream house. Students are progressing through the Isometric Dream House assignment, and the project was due at the end of the day today.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students continued working on their birdhouse designs. Mr. White and Mr. Olsen talked with the students about the dimensions required for the chickadees around the school. Due to the constraints of the purchased wood, students will only be creating bird houses for chickadees, based on the dimensions provided through the ADF&G website. Students are busy creating nets of the exact dimensions, in inches, which will help them when lining out their actual wooden board.

Science: Today in science, we jumped back into "An Inconvenient Truth" and will finish up the film on Tuesday.
