8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students began reviewing for the SBA tests.  Today's activity had students reviewing area and perimeter of rectangles and squares.  Students did a few review problems, before heading out into the parking lot and calculating the area of a parking space line in order to determine how much paint would be needed to paint one row of parking spaces.

Assignments:    Review Homework #16 is due Friday.  Students should be completing the area and perimeter worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided. 

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students jumped back into adding integers.  After some review of the rules associated with the same signs, different signs, and opposites, students practiced a few example problems.  Students were then assigned the 6.2 worksheet and given 25 minutes of class time to complete the assignment. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due Friday.  Students should be completing the 6.2 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began comparing the diameters of the planets to the diameter of the sun.  Students were handed a worksheet to do the calculations on and given a website to go to in the computer lab, in order to find the diameter comparisons. 

Assignments:     Students should be completing the planet diameter worksheet if they did not complete the assignment in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, we jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students were finding mark ups, discounts, sales tax and tips.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned problems from page 360 #8-22 (evens) and given 20 minutes of class time to complete the assignment. 

Assignments:    Review Homework #16 is due Friday.  Students should be completing the problems from page 360 #8-22 (evens) if they did not finish in the class time provided. 

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students took some time to learn about negative and zero exponents.  Mr. Olsen led students through several rules and examples, before moving on to introducing absolute value and adding integers.

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due Friday. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began learning about the sun.  Students read an article and completed several questions related to the article on the sun, before we moved on to planetary bingo!

Assignments:     Students should be completing the sun worksheet if they did not complete the assignment in the class time provided.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, we jumped back into chapter 7.  Today students were finding the percent of change in a given quantity.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the 7.5 worksheet and given 20 minutes of class time to complete the assignment. 

Assignments:    Review Homework #15 is due Wednesday.  Students should be completing the 7.5 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided. 

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students were introduced to integers and how to compare and order negative and positive integers.  After some teacher led instruction and several teacher led examples, students were assigned the 6.1 worksheet. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #15 is due Wednesday.  Students should be completing the 6.1 worksheet if they did not finish in the class time provided. 

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a Solar System walkabout in the library, put on by Ms. Pasteris's classes.  Students moved around the library, moving to different stations filling in a information sheet.  Students were then instructed to use their completed information sheet to answer several questions related to the solar system. 

Assignments:     Students should be completing the solar system questionaire handed out at the end of class.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students worked on their chapter 5 test corrections when they got back from the UAS Apprenticeship Fair. 

Assignments:    The PI worksheet is due Thursday.  Students are also to be working on their chapter 5 test corrections, due by Friday. 

7th Grade Math:  Seventh graders did not have math today due to our eighth graders attending the UAS Apprenticeship Fair.  Our math and science teachers escorted the eighth graders to the fair.  Seventh graders had extended time with their language arts teachers today. 

Assignments:  The PI worksheet is due Thursday.  Students are also to be working on their chapter 5 test corrections, due by Friday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students began viewing a film on the universe.   Students were filling out a video worksheet as they watched. 

Assignments:     None.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students enjoyed PI day!  Students were introduced (or reintroduced) to the idea of the circumference of a circle and the diameter of a circle.  PI is the relationship or ratio of the circumference and the diameter of any circle.  Students participated in an activity where they measured several circular objects and calculated the resulting relationships. 

Assignments:    The PI worksheet is due Thursday.  Students are also to be working on their chapter 5 test corrections, due by Friday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 7 on fractions and percents.  Today students were using decimals to solve percent equations.  Students completed the 7.3 worksheet in class, and we graded it before the end of class. 

Assignments:    Review homework #14 is due Wednesday.   

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students completed the chapter 5 test. 

Assignments:  Review homework #14 is due Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a class discussion on animal adaptions and we applied those lessons to our activity.  Students were asked to create their own alien that is able to live on the moon.  They were given a Moon Information sheet and asked to pull some knowledge they gained from the "Direct from the Moon" film we watched last week, to come up with several adaptions that their alien utilizes to live on the moon. 

Assignments:     Students should be completing their alien write up and drawing for class on Wednesday.

8th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class with the problem of the day.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 7 on fractions and percents.  Today students were converting between fractions, decimals and percents. 

Assignments:    Review homework #14 is due Wednesday.   

7th Grade Math:  Today in math students began class by using their flashmasters.  Next, students enjoyed a chapter 5 review activity.  Students participated in a fraction jeopardy game, in order to review for the chapter 5 test scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday. 

Assignments:  Review homework #14 is due Wednesday.

Science:  Today in science, students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a solar system scavenger hunt within the classroom.  Mr. Olsen scattered and hid 18 facts and clues around the room, and students had to move around the room silently in order to fill out their scavenger hunt worksheet. 

Assignments:     None.
