8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day. Students then graded their homework from section 1.8 on the coordinate plane. Next, students were given the rest of the class period and several review choices in order to help themselves prepare for the chapter 1 test on Wednesday.
The chapter 1 test is scheduled for Wednesday of this week.
Assignments: Review HW #9 is due Wednesday in class.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters. Students then transitioned into the text book. Students reviewed some key vocabulary, and we graded the homework from the text book, before we began talking about the order of operations. We reviewed what PEMDAS stands for and practiced several example problems before we were dismissed a few minutes early for our school's magazine fundraiser assembly.

Next, students sat with their local ecology groups, and each group continued the process of identifying the plants we collected from our one meter square plots last week. Next, we jumped into section eight on the coordinate plane. After some key vocabulary review, and some teacher led instruction, including examples, students were assigned the section 1.8 worksheet as homework, to be due Tuesday in class.

We then reviewed the rules of adding and subtracting integers. Next, we jumped into section 1.7 on multiplying and dividing integers. Students will be constantly reminded about keeping these rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers close, as we will be using them for the rest of the year. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the 1.7 worksheet as homework.

Students were given the opportunity to see Mr. Olsen's work and answers, grade their own work and ask questions as needed. We then began a group discussion on the order of operations (section 1.3 in the textbook).
