8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students began solving equations with variables and writing equations based on verbal sentences (section 2.4).  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 2.4 worksheet as homework, to be due Friday in class.  Students can expect a quiz on identifying and simplifying variable expressions on Friday in class.    

Assignments:  Review Homework #17 is due Friday in class.  The homework, the section 2.4 worksheet, is due Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students reviewed the rules associated with multiplying decimals, before we began talking about division and dividing decimal numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples where we were solving division together we ran out of time.  Students can expect a quiz on decimal operations (addition, subtraction and multiplication) on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #17 is due Friday in class.   

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students took the chapter 1 test on living organisms.    

Assignments:  None.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students continued to identify parts of and simplify variable expressions.  We practiced several more examples of simplifying expressions and combining like terms.  After some teacher led instruction, students were assigned some homework problems from the text book, page 81 #25-30, 34 and 35, to be due Thursday in class.     

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due Wednesday in class.  The homework problems from the text book, page 81 #25-30, 34,35 are due Thursday in class. 

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students reviewed the rules associated with multiplying decimals, before we began talking about division and dividing decimal numbers.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework out of the text book, page 70 #57-65, to be due on Thursday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students participated in a review activity designed to help them prepare for the chapter 1 test scheduled for Thursday in class.  Students created a review notecard that they will be able to use on the test.    

Assignments:  Students have a test on the information we learned from chapter 1 of the "From Bacteria to Plants" textbook on Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students continued to identifying parts of and simplifying variable expressions.  Students practiced simplifying several example problems with some teacher instruction mixed in, and then students were assigned the section 2.3 worksheet as homework, to be due Wednesday in class.     

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due Wednesday in class.  The section 2.3 worksheet is due on Wednesday in class.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students read an article on the six kingdoms of classification.  Students then participated in a think, write pair share activity, where students answered several questions on their own, and then shared their ideas with a classmate.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students continued to identifying parts of and simplifying variable expressions.  Students reviewed the four key vocabulary words, terms, like terms, coefficients, and constant terms, before we continued practicing how to identify and then simplify a variable expression containing each of these components.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples we ran out of class time.     

Assignments:  Review Homework #16 is due Wednesday in class.   

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students jumped into section 2.3 on multiplying decimals.  We practiced multiplying whole numbers together as a group, before students wrote down and began discussing how the rules for multiplying decimals is different from multiplying whole numbers.

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students got together with their group members for the Local Ecology Project, and today groups attempted to find another groups plot based on a descriptive plot narrative written by the original plot owners.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students were introduced to identifying parts of and simplifying variable expressions.  Students defined four key vocabulary words, terms, like terms, coefficients, and constant terms, before we started practicing how to identify and then simplify a variable expression containing each of these components.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework problems out of the text book, page 81 #10-15 to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students were then introduced to chapter 2 on decimal operations.  Today students reviewed and learned how to order, compare and round decimals.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned the section 2.1 worksheet as homework, to be due Thursday in class.   

Assignments:  Review Homework #15 is due Thursday in class.  The section 2.1 worksheet is due Thursday in class. 

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into a lab about how to properly use a compound light microscope. Students read some procedures on how to identify and use the components of a microscope, before students were handed as worksheet and asked to complete the questions while moving around the room and looking at several examples of slides on different microscopes around the classroom.  This worksheet will be due on Thursday in class.     

Assignments:  The microscope worksheet assigned in class, will be due on Thursday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students continued working with the distributive property.  Students did some practice problems using the distributive property, before we transitioned into a discussion of units and unit rates.  Students defined the new vocabulary terms and we will pick up on this discussion Wednesday in class.      

Assignments:  Review Homework #14 is due Wednesday in class.   

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students then did some practice/review problems on the chapter 2 prerequisites on page 54 of the text book.   

Assignments:  Review Homework #14 is due Wednesday in class.  

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned back into the text book, From Plants to Bacteria, and we defined three new vocabulary words, before we read section four, The Six Kingdoms, together in class.  Students learned the six broad categories all organisms are grouped into.  Students were then handed the section 1.4 worksheet and were asked to complete it by Wednesday.    

Assignments:  The section 1.4 worksheet on the Six Kingdoms will be due on Wednesday in class.

8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Problem of the Day.  Students then transitioned back into chapter 2.  Today in class students continued working with the distributive property.  Students graded the work they completed on Thursday of last week, before they were assigned some problems out of the text book, page 74 # 13-27 odds, to be due Tuesday in class.    

Assignments:  Review Homework #14 is due Wednesday in class.  The homework for Tuesday, page 74  #13-27 odds.  

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmasters.  Students then began checking their notebooks and their classwork from chapter 1.  Students reviewed their notes taken during chapter 1 and answered several questions designed help students understand what is expected during class.  Students then completed a notebook checking guide and turned in their math notebooks for a grade on their organization and notetaking skills during chapter 1.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #14 is due Wednesday in class.  

Science: Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students transitioned into a lab designed to help students understand the importance and function of taxonomic keys.  Students got back with their partners, and completed developing a taxonomic key for the bag of jelly beans given to each group.  

Assignments:  Students should be finalizing their groups taxonomic key and answering the questions on the back of the worksheet if they did not complete it during the class time provided.
