Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right back into chapter 9.  Students reviewed the process for solving equations, before we went over how to solve quadratic equations using square roots.  Students reviewed the rules associated with completing the square, and after some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students jumped back into section 9.4 on solving quadratic equations by completing the square. Students then worked through several example problems before being assigned some problems from the text book, page 511 #18-22evens; 25-31 odds; 41; 43, to be due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 511 #18-22evens; 25-31 odds; 41; 43, to be due on Friday in class..

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped back into our Perfect Shape activity.  Students were handed 8 index cards, one for each perfect shape, and students were then given class time to begin creating their perfect shapes.  The 8 perfect shapes will be due at the end of class on Monday May 1st.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #51 is due Friday in class.   The 8 perfect shapes will be due at the end of class on Monday May 1st.   

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given class time to create "Franken-isms" of their own designs.  Students were brainstorming ideas about two organisms, and the traits these animals have.  Students were then creating punnett squares to model possibilities for possible outcomes, before students were sketching what their organisms will look like.

Assignments: The Genetics word search is due Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right back into chapter 9.  Students reviewed the process for solving equations, before we went over how to solve quadratic equations using square roots.  Students went over the rules associated with the concept, and after some teacher led instruction and several example problems related to solving equations using square roots, students jumped into section 9.4 on solving quadratic equations by completing the square.  Students worked through several example problems before being assigned some problems from the text book, page 511 #5-9 odds; 11-16 all; 17-21 odds, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students jumped back into our Perfect Shape activity.  Students made sure their worksheets and tables were complete and accurate, before spending the remaining class time practicing making shapes with protractors. 

Assignments:   Review Homework #51 is due Friday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were continuing to learn about and work with punnett squares.  Students spent the class period completing the SpongeBob worksheet we began in class on Tuesday.  If students finished early, they were handed a Genetics word search.  

Assignments: The Genetics word search is due Friday in class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right back into chapter 9.  Students reviewed the process for solving equations, before students  felt they needed more practice solving quadratic equations through graphing by finding the x intercepts, or zeros of the function in standard form.  Students worked through several example problems in class before they were assigned some pages from the workbook for section 9.3, pages 286-289, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students were introduced to a project entitled Drawing the Perfect Shape.  Students spent the class period completing a table of various polygons and calculating the sum of the interior angles of each polygon, as well as finding the exact measure of each individual interior angle.  

Assignments:   Review Homework #50 is due Wednesday in class.  Students should be coming to class on Wednesday with their Drawing the Perfect Shape worksheet of angle calculations completed.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were continuing to learn about and work with punnett squares.  Students spent the class period completing the section 3.2 worksheet on Probability and Genetics, as well as working with some punnett squares related to the characters in the Spongebob Squarepants shows.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right back into chapter 9.  Students reviewed the process for solving equations through graphing, before students began solving quadratic equations through graphing by finding the x intercepts, or zeros of the function in standard form.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were were assigned some problems from the text book, page 494 # 8; 12; 20-32 evens; 47; 49.  These problems will be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students continued working with and learning how to identify and draw adjacent and vertical angles using a protractor. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned the section 7.2 Practice A worksheet, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Assignments:   Review Homework #50 is due Wednesday in class.  Students were assigned the section 7.2 Practice A worksheet, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Next, students were reading to learn about probability in genetics and punnett squares and how they can show predictions of possible outcomes for offspring.  Students began class by defining several key vocabulary words, before we read section 2 of chapter 3 together as a group.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right into chapter 9.  Students reviewed the process for clearing radicals in fractions, before working through a process called rationalizing the denominator.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 486 # 39-43 odds; 46-54 evens; 55-59 all; and 62.  These problems will be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students continued working with and learning how to identify and draw adjacent and vertical angles using a protractor. After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned several problems from the textbook, page 274 #4-6, 8-13; 14-17 to be due on Friday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Next, students tallied up the data from yesterday's activity concerning individual traits.  Today, students were put into groups of four or five, and each group selected five traits and then created a double bar graph in order to display their groups information.  

Assignments: Students should be completing their double bar graph if they did not complete in the class time provided.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Students then jumped right into chapter 9.  Students were working with and developing rules for multiplying and dividing radicals. After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 485 # 5-11 odds; 14-20 evens; 21-25 all; and 29 and 30.  These problems will be due on Thursday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Next, students participated in and completed a class survey identifying characteristic physical traits of themselves and their class mates.  Todays activity included whether or not students could taste PTC paper.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a set of warm up problems.  Next, students completed the chapter 8 test.  Students then began working on the introduction activities for chapter 9.  Students have been asked to complete workbook pages 275-278 for class on Wednesday.

7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with their flashmaster activities. Next, students working with and learning how to identify adjacent and vertical angles.  We spent a large chunk of class time reviewing and going over the vocabulary associated with identifying angles and practiced identifying adjacent and vertical angles together in class.

Assignments:   Review Homework #48 is due Wednesday in class.    

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now. Students then completed the section 3.1 worksheet on Mendel's Work on genetics in class.  Next, students participated in a class survey identifying characteristic physical traits of themselves and their class mates.
