Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 7 and polynomials.  We began class by grading our Tuesday night homework.  Next, students reviewed multiplying polynomials using all three methods introduced yesterday, before we began working with special square patterns of polynomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 375 #3-10; 11; 13 (and #12 for extra credit!), to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were factoring linear expressions using the GCF as well as factoring out the coefficient of a given expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students completed an in-class worksheet for a daily homework grade.  

Assignments:  Review HW #38 is due on Friday in class.  

Science:  Students blocked this afternoon with Mr. Sheufelt's social studies class.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 7 and polynomials.  We began class by grading our Tuesday night homework.  Next, students reviewed adding and subtracting polynomials, before we began multiplying polynomials.  Students were introduced to three different methods (the distributive method, the FOIL method and the BOX method) of multiplying polynomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 369 #2; 3-17odds; 28; 34; 40, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were continuing to add and subtract expressions including using the distributive property.   After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students completed an in-class worksheet for a daily homework grade.

Science:  Students began science class with the Do Now.  Next, students reviewed the results from yesterday's What's in your Lunch lab, before we continued talking about the organelles and functions of the organelles within cells.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were continuing to work with chapter 7 and polynomials.  We began class by grading our Monday night homework.  Next, students began adding and subtracting binomials and polynomials.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 362 #22; 23-37 odds; 36; 44; 53, to be due on Wednesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were beginning to add and subtract expressions.   After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students completed an in-class worksheet for a daily homework grade.

Science:  Students began science class with the Do Now.  Next, students were participating in a What's in Your Lunch Lab where we were testing what types of food contain starches and/or lipids.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 7 and polynomials.  We began class by working a bit with algebra tiles, and how to decipher algebraic expressions from a collection of tiles.  Next, students defined a monomial and began learning how to identify monomials from binomials and trinomials as well as how to find the degree of a given expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several examples, students were assigned some homework from the text book, page 362 #4-20, to be due on Tuesday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were then continuing to simplify expressions using the distributive property as well as identifying terms of an expressions and like terms of the expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students completed an in-class worksheet for a daily homework grade.  

Assignments:  Review HW #37 is due on Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Students began science class with the Do Now.  Next, students were defining several key vocabulary terms related to cells in their environment.  We then read chapter 1 section 4 on Cells in their Environment.  

Assignments:  The section 1.4 worksheet on Cells in their Environment is due on Tuesday in class.

Thursday February 7, 2019

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were given about 40 minutes of our block class period to continue preparing for the chapter 6 test.  We used the last half of the block period to take the chapter 6 test.

Assignments: Students were assigned some homework from the practice workbook, page 203, Intro to Chapter 7, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were then continuing to simplify expressions using the distributive property as well as identifying terms of an expressions and like terms of the expression.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students completed an in-class worksheet for a daily homework grade.  Next, students participated in the Taku House Metric Olympics activities.

Assignments:  Review HW #36 is due on Friday in class.  

Science:  No science class today.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were working with chapter 6 and reviewing the rules of and use of exponents.  Today, after grading our homework from the Tuesday's class (WB p. 193-195 & 196 #1-9) students were continuing to work with geometric sequences.  After a bit of teacher led instruction, and a few example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook pages 336-337 #3-13 odds; 15-17; 19-29 odds; 30; 37; 40, to be due on Thursday in class.

Students can expect the Chapter 6 test on Thursday afternoon, after the morning field trip to the play.
