8th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now. Students then transitioned into chapter 4. Students spent todays class period learning about slope and how to calculate it. Students were introduced to the idea of slope being Rise/Run and practicing how to find the slope of a given line by choosing two points on that line and calculating the rise over the run. By the end of class, students were introduced to the slope formula, which is the change in y over the change in x. After some teacher led instruction, and several example problems, students were assigned some problems from the text book, page 153 # 1-5; 8; 10 to be due Wednesday in class.
Assignments: Review HW #37 is due on Thursday in class. Problems from the text book, page 153 # 1-5; 8; 10 are due Wednesday in class.
7th Grade Math: Today in math students began class with the Do Now. Students spent today's class period reviewing for the chapter 4 test.
Assignments: Review HW #37 is due on Thursday in class. The chapter 4 test is scheduled for Wednesday.
Science: Today in science, students began class with the Do Now. Students then transitioned back into chemistry. Today, students reviewed how to find oxidation numbers for the elements, before we began talking about covalent bonds between two non-metals. After some teacher led instruction and two or three examples we did together, students were asked to complete the Covalent Bonds worksheet, modeling three more covalent bonds for class on Wednesday.
Assignments: Students should be coming into class on Wednesday with six covalent bonds modeled on the Covalent bonds worksheet.
