Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students continued with chapter 9 and using properties of radicals to solve quadratic equations.  We began by reviewing how to find maximum and minimum values of a given equation.  Today, students were choosing the most efficient method of solving quadratics by reflecting on the five methods we've learned this chapter.  Students are also solving systems of equations using graphing, elimination and substitution.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 521 #37-43 odds; 51; TB p. 530 #7; 12; 14; 18; 20; 23; 25; 40, to be due on Wednesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 9 test on Thursday of this week.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students reviewed writing and solving proportions, before students began learning about the relationship between an x and y variable in terms of slope of a line.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were given 25 minutes of class time to complete practice worksheet in which students were finding the slope of given lines on a graph by using the slope formula.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #52 is due on Wednesday in class.  The front side of the slope worksheet is due on Wednesday in class if students did not complete the assignment in the class time provided.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were in groups of two and we dissected frogs!  

Groups will be presenting their research on the body systems to their classmates on Wednesday May 1.

Assignments:  Students can be preparing for the upcoming body system presentations on Wednesday.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students continued with chapter 9 and using properties of radicals to solve quadratic equations.  We began by reviewing how to find maximum and minimum values of a given equation.  Today, students were solving quadratics by using the quadratic formula as well as how interpret the discriminant value.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 521 #15-23 odds; 25; 26; 31-35 odds; 50, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Students can expect the chapter 9 test on Thursday of this week.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 9 and using properties of radicals.  We reviewed the idea of square roots as well as cube roots, before reviewing solving quadratic equations by completing the square.  Today, students were solving quadratics by completing the square and finding maximum and minimum values of a given equation.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 511/512 #5-9 odds; 25-31 odds; 41; 43; 52, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were writing and solving proportions.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were given 25 minutes of class time to complete practice workbook page 102, which will be due on Friday in class.

Assignments:  Review Homework #51 is due on Friday in class.  Workbook page 102 is due on Friday in class if students did not complete the assignment in the class time provided.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were introduced to the Vote a system out of the Human Body Project.  Students were assigned groups and a body system to research together, and given about 25 minutes of class time to organize within their groups and begin researching their assigned body system.  The project is due at the end of the day on Monday April 29.  

Groups will be presenting their research to their classmates on Wednesday May 1.

Assignments:  Students can be researching their assigned body system at their convenience.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were given some class time to continue memorizing their fraction/decimal/percent equivalents.  Next, students were writing and solving proportions. 

Assignments:  Review Homework #51 is due on Friday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students went outside to our LEP plots and pulled our stakes and finalized the plots for the year.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 9 and using properties of radicals.  We reviewed the idea of square roots as well as cube roots, before reviewing adding, subtracting and multiplying radicals.  Today, students were solving quadratic equations by approximating the zeros of a given function.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 495 #47; 49, and practice workbook pages 286-287 activities 2 & 3, to be due on Tuesday in class.

Students were broken into groups of 2 or 3, and were playing proportion war with a classmate.

Assignments:  Review Homework #50 is due on Wednesday in class.  

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now.  Next, students were given class time to finalize their mitosis flipbook projects.  The flipbooks are due by the beginning of school on Tuesday April 23rd.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 9 and using properties of radicals.  We reviewed the idea of square roots as well as cube roots, before reviewing adding, subtracting and multiplying radicals.  Today, students were solving quadratic equations by graphing.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 494 #8; 12; 20-32 evens, to be due on Friday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were given some class time to continue memorizing their fraction/decimal/percent equivalents.  Next, students writing and solving proportions. Students were given 30 minutes of class time to complete a solving proportions worksheet.

Students are to learn and memorize 17 commonly used fractions and their decimal and percentage equivalents by this Friday (April 19).  We have spent some class time each day this week helping students with strategies to help them memorize this information.  

Assignments:  Review Homework #49 is due on Friday in class.  The solving proportions worksheet is due Friday if students did not finish in the class time provided.  Students should be memorizing their Fractions/Decimals/Percent equivalents for the TEST on Friday in class.

Science:  Students began class with the Do Now, before students took a pop quiz on photosynthesis and cellular respiration.  Next, students were introduced to the Mitosis Flip-book project that we will be working on for the next few days of class.

Assignments:  Students should be coming to class on Friday with the rough drafts of their flip books.

Algebra I: Today in math students began class with a Do Now and a warm up problem.  Next, students were introduced to chapter 9 and using properties of radicals.  We reviewed the idea of square roots as well as cube roots, before we continued simplifying radicals and rationalizing the denominator in order to simplify an expression.  Today, students were adding, subtracting and multiplying radicals.  After some teacher led instruction and several example problems, students were assigned some homework from the textbook, page 487 #71; 74; 75-89 odds, to be due on Thursday in class.

7th Grade Math: Students began class with the Do Now, Flashmasters and/or the Problem of the Day.  Next, students were given some class time to continue memorizing their fraction/decimal/percent equivalents.  Next, students writing and solving proportions.
